"CoD:WaW - A Winner?" Editorial by Mike Nomad

Mike Nomad, owner and admin of Raiders Game Net, posted an editorial that discusses CoD:WW, Treyarch, IW, and Activision. It is an interesting read for CoD fans. You may or may not agree with his views, please let us know in the forums. Below is a snippet of his editorial:
Activision has another winner on its hands in Call of Duty:World at War. Of this, there is no doubt. The pundits are having a field day with the "off the wall" forecasts and predictions. Truth is, nobody can predict the future with any level of accuracy. We even predicted 12-15 million copies will be sold.

Yes, the product itself is that good. Let's face the facts, its using the highly successful CoD4 engine and introduces extraordinary new effects and features. Treyarch's CoD:WW has stock maps that range from smallish to huge and are all gorgeous. The textures, the ambiance, the game play and the playability are all the best this author has seen to date.

Unfortunately, there ARE downsides but as I said, they are not part of nor are they about the game itself. Its the after market disaster that needs attention.

The users/consumers deserve to enjoy the value Activision designed into the ENTIRE PRODUCT offered for sale. After all, they bought and PAID for the product. This is not happening.

Before the game's release, Treyarch PROMISED, the Editor and Tools needed for mapping and modding would be released along with the game itself. This has not happened. Which can be understandable. That is, understandable when Treyarch makes it perfectly clear as to why the tools are not released.

The worst part is the non-paid help exercising their "powers" over PAYING consumers who come to the forums seeking to help others, obtain vital information and generally stay tuned in to the latest info about the Call of Duty Products. What's wrong with this picture?

Activision owns the site, the software and the bandwidth the site uses. Regrettably, the "Dead End Gang" has turned the site into a private club, an intimate stomping ground where they can irresponsibly delete, ban and carry-on however they see fit.

Fine, so be it... The CoDHQ site, if the injustices are not corrected, will soon go the way of the last site. The IW site...which is now a vast wasteland of nonsense. A site that's Admin'ed by an idiot and moderated by emotional cripples. Is that what CoDHQ is headed for? Could be.... only time will tell.

You can find the rest of the article here.

Thanks to FPSadmin for the info.

Obviously, the mod tools have now been released, but what do you think of the rest of his opinions? Sound off, as the TotalCoD community is part of "The Community" and their view should be heard.

It's a fun game, but I would not give it nearly as much credit as the author of that article is giving it.

Thats because the administration there is terrible and the threads get repeated every 3 minutes.

That's part of the problem. It's not the forum admins or even the moderators, but when you have hundreds or thousands of nubs attacking the forums with questions that could easily be answered by reading a few other posts or a faq, the forum has no chance. I think that's why pro forums fail. Who goes to those forums? A lot of times it's people who bought the game, have a question, and so they go right to the game's main forum. People who are not in panic mode with their question or realize that there are easier ways of asking questions/finding info, go to other community sites where it's not like the Chicago fire is going on.
