Ok I'm in. Reinstalling BF2 for this.

Questions.

Do I download the "OLD RELEASE first...AIX 1.O CLient Files?
Then go back and install AIX 1.0 to 2.0 patch? And I'm ready to play?

Sorry not much experience with this....thanks for any help.

Also whats with the AIX v2.0 (Client - Mod) AIX v2.0 (Client - Maps)? Do I need to install both? I'd like to play on servers...

there's two ways of doing it:

for those who already have the old 1.0 client, just do a fresh install of that (it needs to be clean and untouched) and then grab the patch and update 1.0 to 2.0

for those without 1.0, grab the 2.0 core mod file AND the 2.0 core maps file and install them both, in any order. both of those are necessary.

optionally you can also grab headhunters' aix 2 mappack, but aix2 will work without it. if the server you want to play on is running any of these though, obviously you'll want to add these too

You only need the full 2.0 installer and the map pack (since the maps take so much space the aix devs put them in separate files)

Choose a mirror and download both files :) You don't need to download 1.0 first
