Well the download manager unlocked the beta and im installing it right now, but I haven't received an email from cod with the key.

Are you a subscriber?

I hope the DLM still unlocks the one I got last night for me (I'm not a subscriber).

am i the only one who gets errors when they try to open the file downloaded without the DLM because all my friends are getting that trhey need to enter a password...mine just gives errors

There are probably a few slightly different "versions" out there, and by versions I mean the method of encryption that Fileplanet used. Some people get errors, others get a password prompt, those with the DL Manager mostly get a black DOS window that then closes.

If you're using Winzip to try to open the downloaded file, try WinRAR instead and you may get a password prompt. But again, there are no passwords yet, so this is just sometime to try if you're curious.

We also have a mirror all ready set up on Total Gaming Files for you guys. It will be opened to the public as soon as the beta goes live so feel free to wait and use our mirror if you'd like. :)

Apparently, torrents are starting to appear, so you could try one of those (at your own risk of course).

Sorry, there is no other place to download it right now.

You can try fileplanet anyway. The testing and information could have been wrong.

Of course, killing my download with 7 minutes left makes me think otherwise.

The fileplanet download does not seem to work any longer for non-paying registered users. It seems this was an error. For non-paying members, you will go into an infinate loop of logging in.

Ah, so that's what's going on. Bummer, but it does make sense (only paying members usually have pre-download privileges). For those of us who did manage to grab it in time, hopefully the DL Manager will still unlock it. That would be the ultimate tease/slap in the face if FP disabled that.

Not true. I use Firefox exclusively, and the Fileplanet website/Download Manager works just fine.

How the frig do I tell ******* IE to allow ActiveX plugins??

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab > Trusted Sites > Custom Level > Scroll down to ActiveX section and "enable" the options you want.

The Download Manager may be necessary, depending on whether or not Fileplanet provides people with codes to manually unlock the encrypted file or not. With the DL Manager, as long as you leave it open and running, it will automatically get that code and unlock the files when they are ready.

So it will un-encrypt itself on a certain date?

With the Download Manager open & running, yes. It will automatically check with Fileplanet every hour to see if the file has been unlocked.

I don't see where it says it's being released today...

If you're using the Download Manager, there is text saying something like this:
Call of Duty: World at War Beta Client
File downloaded, waiting for key to unlock
Est date available: Tue, Oct 28, 2008 (may say Oct 29 depending on where you live).

If you're just going by JD's post, he made it on Monday, with a video message saying it would be released "tomorrow" (ie. Tuesday).
