The dad didn't think he was serious first of all. So he was just as shocked as anyone else. Heck i am sure that most kids who say " I am running away" to there parents they wouldn't think they were to serious either. I know I wouldn't. Kids or at least most kids know where the providers are which are the parents. Also obviously know that this has become at least imo very serious. Also to the point of his school work the only info we know is that he was a straight A student so we can only assume that his grades were still doing fine at the point of this. Hey if the grades are fime imo then i dont see a problem with a little of all day gaming.

Sry but if the teenager, not kid was indeed addicted then taking away what hes addicted to and then helping him is not a intelligent thing to do. If this was drugs the last thing you would do would be to pull the plug on the drugs as it makes that person desperate and suicidal. So the dad should have thought about it before acting, instead of just taking the game away and punishing, he should have talked about it to his son, parent to son.

Hanley the good grades stopped in 2006 when he got supposedly addicted to CoD so it has been 2yrs almost 3.

Personally i don't think hes been taking by gamers, but then again the US has a lot of weird people. Also it says that the dad blames game for his sons disappearance, no thats wrong its his actions that has made his son do what he has done, but people never look at themselves as the problem its natural to blame somebody els or thing as it brings to much guilt to blame yourself.

Now this Subliminal Distraction is just a fancy name for self control and knowing whats important and vital to witch is not such as gaming. You say about the Shawn Woolley Everquest suicide, that was indeed a sign of no self control, as it was explained to use all he was addicted when he first played and then when he got help being controlled by the group he got better but as soon as he was left to his own self control he couldn't and went back to his problem.

I am not a gamer. I write and post on game sites to warn those using computers and video games of a serious problem that might happen to anyone who creates the "special circumstances" for Subliminal Distraction exposure.

What are those circumstances? Full mental investment in a location with repeating detectable movement in peripheral vision.

Although Subliminal Distraction is explained in college psychology under psychophysics, the physiology of sight, it is so bizarre that most who hear it for the first time cannot believe is possible. It was discovered to be a problem when it caused mental breaks for office workers. The cubicle was designed to deal with it by 1968.

If Steve Crisp had SD exposure he would have the symptoms of fear, paranoia, suspicion, depression, possible panic attacks, and thoughts of suicide. For that reason it is important to make every effort to find him quickly.

Most victims of sudden disappearance are college students. You may remember Brain Shaffer, Maura Murray, and Michael Negrete. They are all still missing. Several have recovered and returned. Ahmad Arain, Matthew Wilson, and Hannah Upp were found in altered mental states. Upp attempted suicide.

Three of the missing were computer science majors. Using a computer in college engages the same mental investment as playing video games. The Finnish school shooter, Auvinen, placed his computer beside a closet door mirror so that he would have detected his own movement to trigger many failed attempts of the vision startle reflex. That's Subliminal Distraction. (The picture of his computer location is on the Redlake Shooting page on my site linked in my signature.)

Crisp had begun to show addiction to playing the game, a possible symptom of SD. Those who react out of normal character such as Shawn Woolley (Everquest suicide, 2002) also show that symptom. Running away might or might not be another clue that SD is involved.

Dude, you jsut totally bummed me out on having 3 monitors for my PC,as well as having a TV in the same room right next to my desk(with said monitors).

I dont get it, I've had this setup(multidisplay) for nearly 5 years. I think Im fine, unless you ask my wife that is. My 6 year old son,4 year old daughter and 12 month old daughter are all fine.My case just proves that PC games dont make you wanna kil people, but they actually make you want to f***......... A LOT!!!!!
