The few servers that were up and running are no longer up and running. Hope thats not a bad sign.

Well, just found out, I'll be getting my cable internet set up on Nov 3rd at my new house that I'm moving into this Saturday...failed lol. I'll have to go to my parents house and play this beta on my dad's pc. (He games also, so his pc is still good, just not as good as mine, but it will do).

If the beta comes out today or midday tomorrow though, I could still play it tonight or tomorrow night for a bit.

You could just take your PC tower over to his place and hook it up/play there.

I have a full tower steel case by Thermaltake, sucker is big lol. However, I may do that at least once during the week, and I'll definitely do it if I don't get to play the beta tomorrow night. Guitar Hero World Tour comes out Sunday, so at least I will have something to do gameage wise. And to take my mind off of not being able to play the beta lol.

Well there is now 6 servers back up and running. Updated within the last 10 minutes. But I doubt it's for the BETA. More than likely for a DEMO. But thats a pure assumption.

Re: Day-1 Servers for the PC Multiplayer BETA

There is no 'DEMO' the 'beta' is the 'demo'

GameServers.com have the exclusive rights or w.e with Treyarch so they get to put up the first Beta servers, then the other GSP's like MyInternetServices.com get to put up there servers a few days later...

Seems they have a server for each gametype: twar, dm, sd, sab, dom, ctf, tdm

So, it means it'll be released soon I know it's out before November, and it's 24th now...

Re: Day-1 Servers for the PC Multiplayer BETA

Why would the BETA be the demo? The reason for a BETA is to find and report bugs and glitches and issues with the game so the demo and the game run smoother? All that in a cpl weeks time? That's just odd.

Re: Day-1 Servers for the PC Multiplayer BETA

Its not really a beta... its basically a demo but they call it a beta to make you think you are 'contributing'.

At this stage the game will not really be changed much at all. (In fact I imagine the cds have already been pressed).

Huh? The 'beta' is the demo... :o well it technically is, everyone who has a callofduty.com account gets a PC beta key (so if you want to play the PC beta you just need to register an account on there)

Doubt they'd do a 'public demo' since the beta is 'public as long as you signup'

I can't believe I have to post this again, but I'm a sucker for punishment...

A demo is a closed system as far as the public is concerned. It can be complete, or not. No feedback is asked for and no changes are made based on feedback. Keyword: demonstration. It's meant as advertising and for users to just play. This is why SP versions make good demos. If, for example, PC got our MP app a couple months after Xbox360, and it was basically "perfect" and just meant for us to play and enjoy, and we didn't give feedback that would result in changes, that would be a demo.

A beta is an open system. Feedback is asked for, and changes are made from that feedback. It does not matter if the changes/fixes are made before release, or after it in a patch, as long as it is based on the user feedback. It is not strictly intended as something to play/enjoy, but to help uncover bugs. (Some of the Console kiddies are treating it like a demo, though...wanting to just play it and have fun, not looking for bugs).

So, if Treyarch collects our feedback on the PC app we're getting, and if they make any changes based on that feedback (even in a patch), then technically it is a Beta.

They must be having a hard time with the PC Beta or running into big probs, I just hope we get time to test and get the info sent in for fixing or the PC version might get delayed.

Don't worry about the full version being delayed because of the beta Gunny, it doesn't work that way.

And even a small problem with config files, or getting the key code websites/emails set up, or the authentication server, etc, etc, can cause a delay...doesn't have to be big problems.

Most of the problems in the 360 version were in PC too, so they've been fixing them behind the scenes. The only thing we'll really have to look out for are PC-specific things, and even those can be applied in a patch (will not impact release date).
