It was recently announced that Google launched AdSense for certain web games. This begs the question is this a feature that we could see in Battlefield Heroes? Here's what they guys from Alt + F4 has to say:

EA has long told the world BF Heroes was going to be free because it was ad-supported and the ads would not affect gameplay. This usually means scrolling ads below/above/on-the-side of games. It also means ads on non-gameplay screens.
Obviously, Google with it's hugely (YOOGE!) successful AdSense and AdWords programs is a great place for a firm looking at generating easy, consistent cash from clicks. While other EA games have ads, they tend to be more shout out-type ads for items like products or movies that jog your memory and might cause you to look them up later. Text ads in a console would be simply dumb, you're just not going to remember that URL or the rest of the string of words.
While EA says no ads in-game, will it live up to this "promise" or will it hedge this later on with "no ads in-game that take you away from the action...". Our bet is the latter and it could work like this: you get the ad served up on a billboard or even a bumper sticker on a vehicle, you click on it and it opens a window under the game. See, this technically doesn't affect in-game playing but still allows them to serve you up on a platter to advertisers.
You can bet that firms are going to look closely at a Google program because it's socially accepted that sites have Google ads on them and they are so commonplace now that most people don't notice. The unobtrusive nature of the text ads can be a good thing but will this just wind up littering the virtual battlefields with ads for ringtones and perfect pancake makers? Only time will tell.
