The guys behind the Operation Market Garden Mod believe they'll be able to release a BETA within 2 months.
[spoil=Operation Market Garden Mod Features]What is OMG about?
OMG is a persistent modification for Company of Hero’s based on the idea fldash used for Europe in Ruins (EIR). It will feature some of the main themes but with pretty much all of the details original from EIR. Our goal is to make an experience we all know and love that is EIR and to refine it, add in things EIR never got round to adding in and also give you some new ideas that EIR was never going to have.
Who is working on OMG?
At this moment at time we have thirteen people working to develop OMG, from designing and balance to artwork and coding.

What will OMG contain (content)?
OMG will offer a persistent war between the allies (US and British) and the Axis (Wehrmacht and Panzer elite). From the first release we hope to have all four armies available with a role-playing campaign that will add more depth to the war; this will include a war map, a rank system, fun scenarios (with SCAR powered missions and other factors) and many options with player decisions’ affecting the outcome.
Alongside the role-playing campaign OMG will also offer a skirmish mode in which you can play as any army (you can only play one army in the campaign), for those players who just wish to play a game with no strings attached.
To make all of this easy OMG will also feature a powerful launcher that will function as a mini-website in which you can do everything to manage your account and companies, as well as a lobby with auto-match (mainly for campaign), open games with password options, The ability to choose game type (Like MCP,VP or any other custom scenario) and Map (In game you will only be able to see the map chosen in the battle) and a real time chat function.
Doctrines
The doctrines for OMG are a lot different from EIR so they merit their own sub section. First off we are allowing each company to have its own doctrine, so you can try multiple builds with one account (remember only one company can take part in the campaign and that company cannot fight in skirmish games).
EIR had 3 doctrines per army and each doctrine had 4 trees with 4 tiers; Well OMG is going a lot bigger! We still have 3 doctrines per army; each doctrine also has 3 trees, but each tree has 4
branches, with each branch having 5 tiers these abilities are all intertwined, some abilities will have multiple prerequisites, allowing even more varied builds. To make this easier try to imagine the Diablo
tech system, if you are not familiar, wiki it. So in all we will have 50-60 abilities Per doctrine.
Our plan is to allow players to constantly evolve their companies to work this most of our doctrine
abilities have different levels you can unlock up to level 5. Each “click” (adding a level to an existing ability or starting a new one) will cost 1 VP (Victory Point) this is because you use VP’s for
everything, doctrine abilities, Resource bonus’s and ATS. I hope you know what Resource Bonus’s are so I won’t go into that yet (we have no number for you at this moment in time), but I doubt very much you know what ATS is. If you look at the doctrine trees you can see you may
notice they are quite short on direct stat buffs this is because we have added another dimension to company development and this is Additional Training Specialisation or ATS this is where you buy the stat buffs, they all start at a set % and each level you buy cost incrementally more, so level 1 may cost 3 VP and level 2 may cost 6.
Veterancy
In OMG there will be 5 level of Veterancy and it is more than just stat buffs at certain levels as some doctrine abilities require a level of Veterancy to get some of the rewards. (No ability will be 100% depended on Veterancy, so you will always get something from your ability with or without Veterancy).
In-game Change
We are added more variety in the ways units can spawn, so far we have Units spawning in Halftracks, Para-dropping and just walking on working, we are working on Gliders and Fallshirmjagers spawning in buildings (I do believe it is possible).
We also have a brief idea on Flaks, 25-pounders and Bofors: When you build it a truck will come in just like in EIR then you build it the first time. Now with the persistency side: You will have two options; Quick escape to stop your vet being lost (The men just abandon it). Or you can have pack up and move (This takes a while so you must plan ahead) when you click on it a truck comes in and "packs it up (This takes some time). Then you can move and build the weapon someplace else.
Also all weapons that have weapon teams (Mortars, MG’s AT guns etc) will have two retreat options:
Normal retreat – They pack up the weapon then run away- and fast retreat – they just abandon the weapon and run off map. Howitzers will be pushed along like AT guns and will be subject to this system.
At this moment not many actual changes are finalised (or even thought about), in fact not much is finalised at all (read basically everything is subject to DRASTIC change).[/spoil]
We Estimate a beta will be available for you to play in roughly 1.5 - 2 months time.
We must stress that this will be an early beta and will contain the following:
* All Four Sides/Armies
* All Complete Doctrines
* AT system (Advanced Training)
* There will be a simple web based War control panel, which will allow you company and battle creation, this will be replaced by a pretty launcher/WCP in a later release.
Note:
Near the release time we will release information on how VP's (Victory Points) will work, how you will buy doctrines and how many of the systems work in detail.
