Total Battlefield Interviews Gordon Van Dyke

As we mentioned earlier this week, Total Battlefield had the opportunity to interview Gordon Van Dyke, Associate Producer at DICE, to ask him the questions you guys submitted. Here is a snippet from this Q&A:
TBF: Does DICE have any plans for adding a ‘Mute’ function and clan support?

GVD: That’s actually a functionality that would have to be added into the PS3; that’s actually not controlled by us.

TBF: Battlefield was traditionally a PC franchise and a lot of BF Fans really feel left out. Well we be seeing a PC version of Bad Company?

GVD: There’s no plans for Bad Company to go onto PC. For the avid fans they might’ve caught in July I think it was, our Executive Producer Ben Cousins mentioned that there were other projects in the works and that we haven’t forgot about the hardcore PC group. That’s about all I can say.

If there's something PC gamers lack, it's patience

And the thing about "There is no BF3", I personally think it's a hint at that BF3 might be a whole lot different than most of us think

    Good interview!

I just think that when they say BF3 its not actually called BF3 so there is a game in the works, but its not "BF3". Great interview BTW.

          Mine did
TBF: Is there a possibility of adding keyboard support to Bad Company (Similar to UT3)?

GVD: You know, that’s a good question. It hasn’t really come up so I couldn’t really answer that but it’s definitely something I’ll take note of.
I doubt it will happen tho, if it does I'll be buying a ps3.

Soooo, now we need to start pressure Sony to add the mute button...

This interview was pretty awesome actually...

It pretty much answers to almost every question we had... Awesome job TGN, and thanks DICE/Gordon Van Dyke :salute:

Shame my question didn't get in, but it was a great interview.

My personal tastes in maps doesn't allow me to like half of the new map pack, but I guess a lot of people like the infantry based maps, so I'll just bite my lip. At least there will be more maps on rotation in conquest mode, which will be great.

I am surprised that the decision was made by the team to drop clan support!? That's pretty stunning considering the clan base in BF2, and Call of Duty 4 on the Xbox 360 for example, had a big clan thing going on.

We have been waiting for a PC based announcement, the thing is by the time we get a teaser it will still be a year before we see the actual game.

I am not so sure about that, Somewhere I read in that interview about other development teams working, not on stand-bye. Who cares about BF3, its like Jaws 3 or Friday the 13th part 10, It gets old!

A new working title is best at this point.

And you are hanging out where? Seriously man, these series represent a style of game play, that most of us here have come to really like. Admittedly I'm right now hooked on COD4 hardcore gameplay, but I want the 'battlefields' that the 'Battlefield' series of games is none for, not just another recycled Strike at Karkand which COD4 is starting to feel like.

My own personal thing that I want to be able to do again is go somewhere off on a hill, some distance from the fight and relax a bit with my 50cal or take a jet for a spine or join a functional Blackhawk squad or be a medic/resupply helping my squad take the flags or 1 of 100 different rolls I could fulfill in a good round of Battlefield 2. That is what the Battlefield series is all about, they call is sand box, I call it GTA on crack.

He said they're doing something for the hardcore fans, a bit cryptic, but also that Battlfeild 3 doesn't exist. Maybe it will be Battlefield 2.5, an in between sequels game like Battlefield Vietnam was. Yeah I know they released 2142, but that was a while back now. In any case, if they do something different and innovative, great, just don't change what Battlefield is too much.

That's too bad. I was hoping for a more in depth interview about specifics of Bad Company. Was the interview edited in any way?

Asking about BF3 in an interview about Bad Company isn't exactly necessary seeing that there were hundreds of suggested question to ask in the forms specifically regarding Bad Company. Kind of seemed like you ran of out questions to as him.

There are many in-game elements that could potentially get change/updated and I was hoping that the interview would touch up upon some if not then on a more general level.

Anyway, thanks for posting the interview.

"Could we see new Downloadable Content such as weapons, new games modes, possibly a new faction in the upcoming patch?"

What I meant was in the future or something.
