Top 10 Things IGN Wants in a KOTOR MMO

IGN made a nice top 10 list of gameplay and style aspects regarding the rumored Knight of the Old Republic MMO. Check out number 10 to number 8 here:
    10. Player-Run Territories/Stations/Planets
A guild-owned planet might be a little too extreme, but being able to claim a territory or a station for your guild is an enticing prospect that might make it easier to hold together online allegiances. As a guild increased in rank through group PvP encounters, and by pooling individual achievements both PvP and PvE, it could acquire a territory. If that went well and the guild managed to stay together, manage their property well, etc., they could move onto a moon and, eventually, a planet. In this way the high-ranking players could act sort of like a corporate government, except those at the top would eventually be governing a planet, not just a group of players.

    9. Social Space Travel
You should be able to move between planets quickly and conveniently, but for the player looking to role-play and experience all the most extravagant starships have to offer, there needs to be something more. It can work so players buy tickets to book passage on unique, gigantic vessels, which leave at specific times and follow a set route. While on the ship there are social activities, unique shops, viewing windows, and possibly even combat arenas. If players get bored of the ship, they just have to use one of the innumerable shuttle ships to move to soar to a nearby friendly system where they could then travel under their own means.

    8. Space Combat
TIE Fighter remains one of the greatest games of all time. And, frankly, we're all sick of waiting for TIE Fighter II. Sure, the KOTOR universe is set way before TIE Fighters were even developed, but there are still starships and starfighters. The principles are all the same. All you have to do is just design cool looking fighters along the lines of those in the original trilogy, because those Naboo fighters did absolutely nothing for us. BioWare could make space combat cool again, and we can't think of a better universe for it than Star Wars.

Be sure to check out the whole list here.

The game has only been rumored but at least confirmed by EA's CEO. This list reminds you of something? Everyone that played the pre-NGE or pre-CU version of Star Wars Galaxies should do and knows, that this game was hard to get into, but very deep regarding gameplay. Bioware has got a hard job to match the high expectations.

It's a great idea, IMO. The Star Wars universe is so vast and so rich with all sorts of places, vehicles, aliens, storylines, etc, all laid out from the movies and books, and a huge existing fan-base...it's a natural setting for MMO games. But the devil is always in the details, so they need to spend time making the kinds of tweaks and features that will draw players in and hold them (allowing them to do as many of the things shown in movies/books as possible).

That's a good point whiskey. When you look at the upcoming Stargate Worlds MMO, you couldn't just give human players kevlars...they have to expand it with scifi armors and everything the series not being that deep technically.

But for Star Wars you have plenty of armors just for the factions and even more neutral, or battle armors and weapons and so on.

Well if you ask me galaxies sucked balls. Remember also that Kotor is a different time peroid no Darth Vander and stuff. This is a good time for BioWare once again to explore the older lore of the Star wars universe. Just like they did with the first two Kotors. that being said thats what got me ot play the first two kotors that and the fact you can go and become dark side or light side.

I played the ten day trail and wasn't impressed. So I don't know what i played. To me it felt a little sluggish,a little confusing, and hazy at the start

Just to give you a small insight: When the game was on it's heights it had 37 different classes you could mix and jedi as an alpha class that wasn't easy to get for example. With the NGE they made 9 classes out of the 37 including the jedi as a class everyone could pick from the start...
