In a recent interview with MTV's Multiplayer Blog, EA spokesperson, Mariam Sughayer, tried to clear the air on a few major complaints gamers have had with Spore and its nasty DRM.
This also reveals that Spore has had well over 437,000 activations of the title since its release. This is compared to the 453,000+ activations of the Spore Creature Creator and the 183,000+ activations of Mass Effect.
Of those 437,000+ activations of Spore, 86% have been activated on one machine, 14% on more than one machine, and 0.4% on more than three machines.
Sughayer continued on to say that there are no viruses, spyware, or malware contained in the Spore SecurROM DRM. She also stated that users will still only be allowed to create one account per install of the game, despite the apparent "misprint" found in the manual stating that multiple accounts could be created.

Complaint: A legitimately bought copy of “Spore” can’t be activated on more than three different computers — ever.
EA Response: That will be changed, according to the EA spokesperson, who told Multiplayer that the current limit on the number of computers that can be associated with a single copy of “Spore” is “very similar to a solution that iTunes has. The difference is that with iTunes you can de-authorize a computer [that you no longer want associated with your iTunes content]. Right now, with our solution, you can’t. But there is a patch coming for that.” The official timeframe for that patch is “near future.”
