    Electronic Arts Floor Report: PAX

X-Play's Morgan Webb recently attended PAX 2008 where she conducted a floor report on EA Games. Included in the report is an interview with DICE producer Aleksander Grondal. Check it out below:

I can't see how DICE are gonna make a lot of money off of this, microtransactions? They're gonna need to be hundreds of thousands of clothing items sold for 99p, $1 or somthing similar, to make much profit? I'm sure they've studied all this stuff and have a good plan though.

Web page advertising. They are banking on the fact that a free game will have a lot of hits, thus, increasing the value of advertising on the web page. The in game purchasing is merely a sidestream of revenue.

The big bucks are the likes of Maccy D's, Nvidia, Intel etc... advertising on the webpages.

Ah yes, that will do the trick then.

I can see BF Heroes action figures in a Happy Meal box :)

In all seriousness, i wouldn't put it past them.

The only issue is the fact that characters have guns. But that never stopped the murderous Action Man figures.

Well, they don't have to have the guns on the figures, just give them some other prop, a stereotypical thing, like a flag or a medic box. Or they could have them sat in vehicles, like the tank and plane. That wouldn't be quite as offensive as a big machine gun, just.

              It's looking like fun anyway.

The other thing is, I don't think the age range that buy Happy Meals are the same that may play BF:H.
