BIA:HH - No Dedicated Server Upon Release

Our friends over at FPSAdmin have found out from Gearbox Software that there will be no Dedicated Server when Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway. A similar move that EA did with Medal of Honor: Airborne and we all know how well that turned out.
It seems that the developers over at Gearbox Software did not get the memo on what caused Airborne's crash and burn regarding the MP side of that title. While they seemed to take their time in releasing Hells Highway, they have been very quite on the multiplayer side of their game and now we now know why.

It seems that they will, NOT be releasing a dedicated server (full install or dedicated files) for their Hells Highway title, when the game ships this Sept (if it's not delayed again).

One of the BIA developers has replied to ButchCassidy's inquiry about the MP side of the game over on the official BIA forums . Gearbox's boman replies with the following:

"There won't be a dedicated server included with the game at launch.
We may release a dedicated server at a later date."

Please note the may, I've highlighted in yellow. When the game ships it will only include a listening server for server admins . We all know how well that works and how successful Airborne was when it was released with the same handicapped server functionality.

I would highly suggest you hold off and wait for a MP demo before purchasing or wait for the "Airborne patch" (Airborne patch means the patch to installs features that should have been there upon release "out of the box" or as we say here at FPSadmin the 2nd or 3rd patch before the game is playable).

It seems that any game released on the UT3 engine suffers from the same "console" faith as past titles like Airborne. Be careful and warn any PC server admins to steer clear of Hells Highway until they add the features that should have been included "in the box".

It will be interesting to see how well BIA:HH sells compared to MOH:Airborne

Another lame release for PC... sigh. The devolution occuring in PC gaming is astounding. They can't say that they didn't know of the importance of a dedicated server. Perhaps MP gaming just isn't important to them.

      I'll keep waiting for BF3.

Funny how another topic regarding HH was locked on gbxforums

That's why is better to have separate forums section for PC and console as for console players MP is not that important and then they just spam the tread
