Because EA won't physically make the computers, they will simply buy pre-made machines from a wholesaler and then flog them to us.

They will most likely be more expensive than a similar home build, but, it takes the stress out of component picking and building for those not so tech savvy.

I think it's a great idea to take out some of the annoyance in the PC gaming market and open it up to a wider range of customers.

    This is good news people.

How is this different from what the established sellers do?
Sure it tells you how you will perform in Crysis, but that is just one game.

I would be far better if the developers posted realistic specs for the different settings, instead of just "minimum" and "recommended"

Sometimes things like this work well, other times they completely fail. I hope that they are able to make some progress in PC gaming by doing this. We'll have to wait and see where this goes.

If they can offer up a good PC equipped with the gear gamers want at a price point they can afford, this plan would be fantastic for the future of PC gaming. IMO, if they setup rigs which are too pricey or offer lame gear, this endeavor will fail.

I always feel the flaw in that argument is that a PS3/ Xbox 360 doesn't include a TV.

A TV isn't an additional purchase as: logically, if one is buying a console, one already owns a TV given the majority of EVERYONE does.

PLUS, a TV is multi-purpose, whereas a PC Monitor isn't (to the same extent).

                still

to enjoy a console game at decent resolutions (that pcs have been on for a long time)

                1080p sigh

you need to fork out for a decent tv

                some people don't have this

Can't you just use the monitor you're using now? Because when you buy one of those computers, you buy them because you want to upgrade and not buying just another computer with the same specs as your other one.

And you could plug your computer into a TV.
