  • Games for Windows LIVE Gets Major Changes

According to TheFeed Microsoft announced today that now Game for Windows LIVE service will be FREE! Check it out:

Today, at Gamefest 2008, Microsoft announced a few hefty changes to their Games for Windows LIVE service, which include a pretty encouraging price drop.

The cost of Games for Windows LIVE features for PC gamers is now: FREE.

This is a great move as PC gamers were apprehensive toward paying for features they felt were classically offered for free since the dawn of online gaming on the PC.

For the future, Microsoft hopes to debut a Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace, which will "offer downloadable game content (free and paid, determined by the publisher), demos, trailers, and more."

There are also plans to revamp the Games for Windows LIVE interface to be "more PC friendly, and reducing the technical requirements for developers."

Great additions and we look forward to checking out more Games for Windows LIVE-enabled titles.

About time. Nobody in their right mind would pay for something like VOIP in a PC game - unless they already have an X360 with Gold.

Considering how annoying most people online are, I'd pay to not have VOIP in my game.

Have any of you ever used GFW Live? It is crap. It should be free. MS should pay us to use it.

This is going to make my net development alot cheaper now... You know how hard it is to find 7 other people with gold that are willing to help!

I've never bought a game that uses it.

Last time I checked Shadowrun is the only game that has cross 360 and PC play.
