    Sony Responds To Firmware Pull

On the official Playstation Blog Sony has posted some information of as to why they have decided to pull the new 2.40 Firmware for the Playstation 3. Check it out:

As has been reported on many gaming blogs and websites, we have temporarily taken Firmware v2.40 offline. We’ve received a limited number of calls from consumers experiencing an issue with installing the system software update on their PS3. While our consumer services department has seen a low volume of calls on this topic, we are committed to providing the PS3 community with XMB access features delivered in the v2.40 update. We are working diligently to isolate the problem for those few consumers and to identify a solution before we put the firmware back up.

We’ll provide further information as necessary here on the Blog.

Re: Sony Responds To Firmware Pull

I have an original 60 GB and I have no problem. Sony's Forums are aflame on this topic and that is understandable. You know, I recall a system update forever ago that I could not install from the system. I had to hop on the PC, go to Sony's website, put the update on a flash drive, pop the flash drive into the PS3, and then run the install. I wonder if this isolated problem is something like that. Of course, I didn't bother calling in to complain or anything becuase the work around took me a whole extra 3 minutes. It seems kind of silly to me to deny the many to accomidate the few... but maybe that is me.
