I think I read in an interview some where that Half Life 2 was one of their last larger releases and that the new episode formats would be the next generation.

How ever, I think it is fairly safe to say that the next iteration of either Half Life and/or Counter Strike won't occur until their next engine is ready.

Also, thanks to everyone who corrected my information with BF: V. I thought that DiCE was bought at the time, so perhaps was developing it in an EA studio, but at least I got the country right lol. I keep forgetting that DiCE isn't as localized as what I think.

I doubt BF3 will be Vista only, unless the engine only supports DX10. Even crysis works fine on XP.

I think it's almost time to make games dx 10 only

DX 10 support and performance are not where they need to be in order to make games DX 10 only. It would exclude pretty much everyone except for the hardcore gamers and enthusiasts. Now, I have a decent computer, and can reasonably expect to be able to play games in DX 10. I got rid of Vista when some of my games didn't want to play nice, so I don't know for sure. The point is, DX 10 is tied to Vista and fairly expensive GPUs in order to run games at acceptable framerates. Only MS was goofy enough to think that people would buy a new OS and upgrade all of their hardware for a game. I doubt anyone else is willing to make that mistake any time soon.

Don't forget that the same source that said it would be Vista only also said there would be an official BF3 announcement and teaser trailer in January 2008

              Yeah, 6 months and counting...

Also, why you people think PC gaming is dead? If you looked at the front cover/interview of PC gamer, there's a whole interview. The only reason the HP blackbird was produced and designed for millions of $$ is because PC gaming is picking up. Plus I read or heard somewhere (maybe G4) is that console gaming will slowly die because the technologies are to expensive, they have to be created from the ground up and it is likely that neither sony or microsoft will ever see that money again.
