Next IW Call of Duty Game Going Sci-fi?

CVG reports that the next Infinity Ward Call of Duty game will have a sci-fi side to it. Check it out:

Ahead of this weekend's Call of Duty: World at War reveal, via Xbox Live Marketplace, comes a tasty little rumour hinting that the COD4 developer's next game will be a bit on the science fiction side.

Take it with a pinch of salt for the time being but an insider from Infinity Ward is reported to have said, "we are currently working on a new sci-fi title, we cannot release any more information as of yet, we may or may not announce it at E3."

We're not sure how much into the future we're talking here and we hope we're not going to be shooting little green men or vampires on Mars. We've done a little digging only to be greeted by blank looks, which doesn't actually rule anything out in our experience. But it doesn't confirm anything either.

Usually we wouldn't go for such randomness, but we've got a funny feeling about this one. More soon maybe...?

Thing is, people, or at least forums/posts i read, didn't want COD to do Modern Warfare but look how awesome that was.

So if they do go sci-fi, will they go all out with lasers and ion cannons, or keep it like 2142, with just futuristic looking guns and vehicles?

I did. Modern day is my favorite FPS time frame.

I'm sure IW will still do a good job, but I wanted an expansion or something still modern.

The title of the article is typical magazine marketing/speculation/hype, IMO. This doesn't mean that COD6 will be sci-fi, just that IW's next game could be sci-fi. If I had to bet, I'd say it would be a completely separate title, not related to COD.

Great news for me. Hopefully it's Sci-Fi Men against Men with laser weapons. I'm waiting so long already for such a game, not that semi Sci-Fi that's all over the market.
