the variables which do matter, FPS game experience and raw hand eye coordination...both of which can be improved upon.

Put yourself in a better position than your enemy and be a better shot. Positioning comes with experience and aiming skills can be practiced and improved.

      Cry more??????:shakehead:
hehe, well as a PR player I would like to see a min of a option to release the prone dive for mods at the min and dont say I'm crying I say it cos the big problem here is that I am one of the biggest prone divers around, epically in PR as its such a huge advantage to have such a small part of your body exposed to fire + instant increase in accuracy which dont really fit in with what PR is about :p

but ye in vbf2 its not really a big issue, DICE see it more of a feature to the game even thou it really dont take much skill to hit "z" before a fire fight

Dude, you know my job. We've had this discussion before. The first thing you do in either a near or far ambush is get down, then you come online and lay down a base of fire. The reason for that is EXACTLY what you stated above, to minimize your own target and to aid in accuracy....being prone in real life does greatly aid in accuracy lol.

So if there is one place where proning should never ever ever be removed, it's PR.....because it's 100% realistic. And isn't that what PR is? Realism in a mod?

This is a debate about reaction times....and as in real life, those who have better reaction times and better eye hand coordination will usually win the fight.

I never said proning was not realistic...

I said "Prone Diving and shooting off right away and even though the dive with 100% accuracy" is unrealistic since that is what prone diving is.

It is simply not possible in r/l to sprint up to a location dive onto the ground and start shooting with 100% accuracy right away. You would maybe run up, then you would dive to the ground, then you would spend a sec or 2 getting into a firing position where you would then fire. Ie, not the split m/s you have right now and more of a 1 to 2 sec event, if you saw a enemy run round a corner in r/l you would not prone and start shooting like what happens in PR, you would just simply shoot him as soon as possible from w/e position you where in if you wanted to live

Rhino, I get it. Really I do. Now don't take this the wrong way....most of what you write gets misinterpreted because you are either A. a bad typist, B. a horrible speller, or C. all of the above lol.

Re: Battlefield 2 Patch Coming Soon

It would be nice if the patch would make the game more advanced. Since the game has players who have been playing for a very long time, their gaming skills and methods will have matured and they might need something extra.

Some of the really annoying aspects to vanilla BF2 :

                    1) Everyone able to pick sniper rifles as a basic kit.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I see squads of ghilli suited creatures shambling up to cp's. They are pretty easy to take down with mounted MG's at CP's due to awful deviation cones.

                    2) Musical Chairs methods in AAS game mode.

Why should lonewolves be able to run round the map avoiding the enemy and just taking cp's on their own? Anyone who has played the AAS2 cp taking push methods with Project Reality will see some sort of method to advancing across a map. Basic AAS musical chairs is frustrating and souless.

                    3) Deviation cones are horrendous

Anyone who has ever fired a rifle in real life sits down to play Vanilla and wonders why the hell they have to fire so many rounds in an enemies direction before one of them strikes. Even at 50m !!!

                    4) Headshots are headshots. 5.56mm assault rifle or sniper rifle, one shot should kill

Another reason for so many snipers in vanilla? If it takes 3x shots to a head at point blank range to kill an opponent, why would anyone choose to use a more useful class beneficial to teamplay (and we are talking 64 player servers here, not single player gaming)

                    5) 128 player servers.

They started off talking this way. It's about time they sorted this out

                    6) Maybe some new forces added to the game?

Dice could maybe talk to the modding communities about this. The expansion packs they produced and sold were not all they can do. There's no reason why they cannot keep adding forces and tweaking the game in general. They could even sell the update packs to make some money. The engine is already there to save some money totally redesigning everything. They could bring the current world theatres into the game with fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan (insurgency) and expand on possible conflicts/targets (PLA/MEC/etc)

                    7) Releasing the development code to the modders

Come on! It's not like Dice are doing anything with it anymore

                    BUT............

I guess we will settle for a few server stabilisation tweaks, a few community made and supplied maps (most likely from the Sir Community? )and the Mod groups having to spend a couple of weeks fixing the damage the patch caused to their work that is 4x the capacity and enjoyment of vanilla.

I know its a lot to hope for but if Dice can even fix the game a bit (and repair some of the damage they did)

then god dam I shall reinstall it

PS - loving the tags LOL

MrD, can you stop preaching for EA to make vBF2 more realistic when you have PR which dose basically all you want on that list already?

VBF2 is meant to be arcade, not realism. So stop asking for these kinds of things please...

This will probably be just like the 2142 patch. There will be chosen community maps, Wake Island 2142 was made by Sir. So likely, a map from a BF2 mod will be chosen as at least one, the other map was made by a professional mapper, but Im thinking it may not be the same. Currently in 2142 stats do not count in the new maps, so be prepared for that too.

I very much doubt the map is from the community for the BF2 patch. Yes its possible but if there was a map in development I would probably know about it, I knew about the Wake Island 2142 map way before it was even thought of being put into a official patch and I am not even a 2142 player...

Thou I have not heard a whisper from the community of any map in development that I can could see meeting the standards for a official BF2 patch apart from mod maps which DICE would not use as they are made for mods, not BF2, so unless this map is being made by a community member in 100% secrecy from the start I very much doubt that they will use a community map.

Thou I could be wrong, it would be nice for DICE to encourage more community mapping/modding involvement like that :)
