they are discontinued it because Dualshock 3 has everything that SixAxis does but has added features e.g Rumble. Thats why they are phasing it out because there is no need for it anymore.

Yeah, it really sucks... Especially when i look at my friends in PS3... There's almost all of them, who's online, playing it...

I got pre-order on BF:BC aswell... But that's at the end of this month, so i will have plenty of time to play MGS4 and MGO...

What makes the MGS series so great? I am not trying to be a Tool, I just have never played any game in the series. What do you guys like about it?

For me the first thing is the story... No other game has ever gotten to the same level with MGS(IMO)...

Then comes the gameplay... Basically you can complete the game without killing anyone... I mean what game has that...

And just to mention all the little things from the series. For example in past games your health went down if you smoked cigarette, you could lay down a p0rn magazine to distract the enemies, hide in cardboard boxes, have to switch controller port to avoid boss to control your mind(and mess up your save game) and so on...

I mean the whole MGS experience is something completly different(in a good way)... And no other game can do that... Or atleast hasn't yet...

Oh so the dual shock has the six axis motion?

i have metal gear solid for the PS1, my disks are sorta scratched and doesnt always work i bought it used.. hmm i might play it again when i get time.

The atmosphere and the storyline of MGS is really great and i like games with a bit of storyline and a good amount of freedom. MGS always had that and that's why i swear by MGS :p

It has been a top game since it was on SNES(I think) The story surpasses any story I have seen in any game it also has great depth into it as well its worth a look if you have PS or PS2

Definitely get a look at the MGS retrospective, link provided.

First and foremost- story and everything related to that.

-Immediate storyline of the game
-Background story
-Characters
-Character interaction (in the form of cutscenes)

You need to understand the "console crowd". Theres a much heavier emphasis on games with an excellent storytelling, or at least it used to be so before the new generation of consoles that put a lot more emphasis on internet online MP gaming.

What makes MGS so great? Its story is quite simply second to none. Apart from some retconning done in MGS4, youll find that the storyline spanning through 7 canonical games is flawless and without any plotholes. And its not because its a simplistic story. Starting the game from 3rd or 2nd title will often simply mind**** you. Imagine Tom Clancy on crack, all of it is taken from scientific concepts, no matter how "fantastic" it may seem at times (eg character Vamp, who is seemingly immortal).

Then, theres gameplay. Its a mixture between stealth a´la Splinter Cell and fast paced CQB action. You always have a choice between the two. Appropriately for a console title, the replay value in that aspect is immense, as you can play the game through with a Rambo mindset, and then there are difficulty options which KO you out of the game the second you start an alert.

I wouldnt say the gameplay is incredibly awesome, its main letdown is the unimpressive AI, however, its ****full of fun to play it. The most interesting part is that the games get better and better in every aspect, as the time progresses. Obviously a noble trait from Kojima san. Its constantly incorporating new gameplay functions (for example, after the first MGS title, the second already incorporated iron sights, third went ahead and incorporated a much deeper melee combat methods array, fourth made weapons upgradeable; among other things). So the new games arent really leeching off the success of the older ones, the improvement is always there. And its respectable to a fan whos been with the series since the old NES titles.

MGS also features one of the greatest boss battles ever. Every one of them is different.

All in all, in simple terms, MGS games are like movies. 10-20-30 hour deeply involving and immersive movies that have no equal among any games released, nor movies at that matter. I dont know how Kojima does it, but he does. His deep involvement in the MGS movie shows positive signs. He didnt even accept David Hayters MGS movie script, and Hayter knows MGS as well as Kojima does, not to mention being a talented script writer aswell.

Im currently at this part. The music isnt correct one here.

Its every bit as exciting as the bike escape part in MGS3, except that youve got a lot more speed this time, and the added obligation to protect your allies in the chase adds a tonload of rush to the whole segment.

Overall, apart from sub par enemy and friendly AI (Gekkous are particularly a disappointment), the game is the best Ive ever seen. Im still holding Half Life, STALKER and Outbreak on top, but this one challenges the top every bit as good as MGS3 does, much better even, and I thought that wasnt possible.

The game is mindboggling, its just so "big", story is going to get people confused.

Ill finish the game up and let the emotions (and theres a lot of them) settle. Then post a review.
