Battlefield 2142 Mac 1.50 Patch Update

DICE has released an update regarding the 1.5 patch for the Mac edition of Battlefield 2142. Here is what they had to say:

As you know, Battlefield 2142 Update 1.50 released recently for PC and we wanted to update our Mac players on what is happening with 1.50 for Mac. Updates for Battlefield 2142 are created originally for the PC version of the game and then passed to a conversion team once we have finalized the update to bring the new content to Mac. 1.50 is currently at this stage of the process where it is being converted and tested to ensure everything is in order for release. This process causes a slight delay on Mac releases of updates but be assured that this is coming and we will keep you informed on the status along with the Mac change list as soon as we have more details.

Its terrible. It using that stupid cider software. Its a cheap knockoff of wine pretty much. Wine performs much better but this mac version is not really a mac version. Its just the windows version put into a program to make it act like a Windows program under mac. The highest resolution you can go is 1024x768 and the highest I could go is medium with no aa so it would not lag. I installed the Windows version through bootcamp and I run it at my native resolution of 1440x900 with all high and 8x and I get wonderful framerate.

Also, the whole testing it on the mac version is somewhat funny since all it is is the Windows version.

Meh. I like my mac more than any PC I've owned, but I still have XP installed thru bootcamp, so I guess I'm a traitor. XD

Never had any troubles with 2142 on my Mac version, however... It runs well without lag regardless of being simply a windows port.

Well, if you don't get CTD with MAC n' 2142, sweeet Hehe.

Even with Vista Ulti 64 SP1, I have CTD's in BF2.

there nothing really todo with bf2 just add widescreen or even new maps thats it I think but thats why you buy bf2142

I have been using Mac's since before Bill Gates Started MS.

Which Wintel system? What parts and manufacturing? You see, in the pc world, what your computer is made of (Unless you built it) is anyones guess.

In the Mac world, the systems are designed to be ultra efficient, the same parts are in each model, Apple, at any one time, has like 4-6 variations. Where in the Wintel world there are no standards.

I have used both systems professionally since thier begginings, and I have never had any troubles with my Mac's, can't say the same about the Wintel pc's.

How does 2142 run on my MacPro? Perfectly! And I have all the settings set to the max. The dude that listed the limitations either has an ancient Mac, or he is lying. Because only the newest Mac's with the Intel chips can run 2142.

lol, Mac vs Pc threads always crack me up.

For all the pc users: I used to be a hardcore pc guy and what it comes down to for me is the operating system mostly. Windows just doesn't compare to osx in my books. I haven't had a single problem with osx since the day I bought my iMac (about a year). Windows hasn't given me that kind of love, lol. Plus Apple does a great job taking care of their customers and their computer designs. Oh and yes, it is a "life style" type thing, with some mac users it's on the verge of cultish, crazy stuff, lol.

BTW, bf2142 runs great on the iMac. Could be better, could be widescreen, but I didn't buy a mac to play games. If you've never been on a mac, coming from a big pc user/overclocker/etc., give them a shot. Don't just get on it for like 5 min., use one for awhile. I hated it at first until I really got comfortable (maybe I'm brainwashed? :shock:). :thumbsup:
