    SA-MP To Cease Development?

San Andreas Multiplayer, the multiplayer modification for GTA: San Andreas is apparently now closed and no further development will take place.
Their website reads the following "We gave up! kaput! And we don't wish to be a associated with this program anymore.
So please respect our copyright and license and do not distribute any of our files.
    "

According to another website, the lead developer Kyeman came up with the pay-for-official-listing as a way of paying for the rent on his property. However, he did so under the disguise of Donations.
No official statement has been announced at this time, but we'll update you as or if it happens.

Maybe because Rockstar took their idea?

Rockstar's multi-player on GTA 4 only goes up to 16. Give me a break, why would I want to run around an extremely large city with only 16 people. I'd rather it be almost set up MMORP-ish in the sense that hundreds if not up to thousands (a bit extreme yes) were all playing on one server at one time. Of course lots of mayhem may ensue but still i think it would be interesting.... somehow.

As far as SA-MP being shutdown goes, was someone profiting off of this somehow? I thought they were almost finished with 2.5? Why not just release that THEN shut it down. They were going to increase player limit up to 500 with 2000 spawn points for cars?

If they shut down just because people were complaining about hackers on their servers, then that's just extremely disappointing and a bit disconcerting.
