New Call of Duty Heads to Six Platforms

Next Generation is reporting today that Call of Duty 5 will be available on six different platforms as well as take place in a new theater. Take a look:
"For Call of Duty, we're bringing the intensity of the recent Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare title to yet a new military theater to engage our significantly larger userbase which nearly doubled last year," said Activision Publishing president and CEO Mike Griffith.

Griffith said that the next Call of Duty will launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, DS and PS2 during this fiscal year.

He also confirmed that more DLC is headed towards current players of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. "We'll drive category sales of downloadable maps and enhance Call of Duty 4 retail SKUs," he said.

If Call of Duty goes to the future, i will personally visit IW and hit each one of the developers in the face with a trout.

I would like to say WW1, but the weaponry is simply not as "exciting" to use. I wonder if it may be 'Nam?

I'm a little fed up of US based titles. I would love to see the British and other countries in the next title.

Aye, why did they pick PS2 instead of PSP... and CoD isn't exactly a game you should play on DS/PSP...

I'm sure CoD5 is supposed to be WW2 with Treyarch, so maybe they're talking about Pacific Theatre?

I agree. No more Germany stuff but send you over to the Pacific. That's the only idea I get off of it. Every 'Nam game has pretty much failed so doubt they'll try that.

Regardless, Call of Duty 5 is not on my list of future games to buy. I think it's stupid for it to be coming out.

Alex, it's not IW making CoD5. Activision gave it to Treyarch to do.

If Treyarch are making it, I'm not buying it, no matter what theater they play.

Pretty much everyone has a ps2, if they dont have a next gen console, and many peoples home pcs have inbuilt graphics which pretty much cannot run anything. hence ps2.

still i wonder when they will stop making ww2 games, I think they should go look at how moa:airborn did...

                          Falklands anyone? :p

TBH I think a Nam game if done right can work, BFV was a stunner, not in the graphics like but still... It was for it's time. Other than that I can only think of a fictional one eg:

A Turkish attack on the British base in Cyprus creates political turmoil (yadda yadda) and war follows.
With the assistance of the Greek Cypriot army the British launch an attack on Turkey who are now backed by the Russians and a deep campaign of conflict follows...

etc. etc. Meh, just a thought and it's both geographically possible and not been done before, should also make a nice technology clash. Which is always good and should provide a break for the "I'm sick of always having the US technology" people.

Anyway, just throwing ideas out here.

Just 6? Man, they are slacking off now. Im sure it could be ported to others. I still own a Super Nintendo. That would be a good one. Game Boy Advanced might be another audience.

If they are doing one for the Wii, but one for PS3 AND PS2, why not the Game Cube?

                            Crunch

He also confirmed that more DLC is headed towards current players of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. "We'll drive category sales of downloadable maps and enhance Call of Duty 4 retail SKUs," he said.
Since its retail SKUs, does that mean expansion packs in the stores? They never mention if this is across the board or if its console.

OHYA!! Pacific, Nice! Love the Idea that we will have CoD 5 for the PC and its going to be WWII Pacific, great idea to have the 2 diff type of war games on the PC. 1 day might want to play WWII the next day Modern Like that idea. can't go wrong if it's from the guys that made CoD:United Offensive. Im very much looking forward to it. and if it was console only then many would be crying "why not the PC":shakehead: just be happy we are getting it.
Can't go wrong with a game called Call of Duty:salute:.
