Thats because it's harder to be optimistic than it is to be pessimistic.

He recites that hes pessimistic merely because hes afraid of being let down.

I on the other hand, am not afraid. I rarely choose to have faith - but when I do, I place my faith in the most capable hands in the industry, so I'm rarely ever led astray.

It feels good to be a fanboy sometimes.

The fact that they changed the overall plot of the Resident Evil series pissed me off for one.
Which in turn was made into an action game rather than the ever so pant ****ting horror series.
Coupled with the loss in horror the game moved from a true kick some zombies *** to some RPG element with weapon customisation, which innovative, was rather boring ... and annoying to some extent.

That is what I remember of the game.

And you think youre any different?

I go double. I place my faith in the capable hands, and show my concern to the incapable.

It depends on the bartender and the company, whether the glass is half empty, or half filled. And the time I dont know which is which, is when I dont know anything about the bartender. Hence you not seeing me in most "General Gaming" threads.

Its good to be an optimist, its cool to be a pessimist, its best to be a realist that can have both opinions.

And this was all post mortem. How much did you know pre mortem? QED.

The fact that they showed us weapon customisation and plot was already enough to not enjoy the game before it was released.

And don't go all quod erat demonstrandum on me, you have proven nothing.

            Capcom over Maxis.

So you're saying you don't know Gin from Rum, but you're commenting that the still-to-be fermented beer I'm drooling over tastes like crap, just because it's frothing?

About as much as we all know about Spore.

You're still new to debating with Chris. It's not about proof to him. It's about him being right, and you being wrong, even if you're both wrong. He'll pull you into a character debate if you ruffle his feathers too much - which is when things usually get ugly.

Just drop a couple of Oh Snap! comments to appease the crowd, and disengage him at every opportunity. He eventually gives up when he realizes that you've lost interest in his tirade. You can't ever prove him wrong, and he can't ever prove himself right, because theres nothing to prove.

Nope. I can tell gin from rum, and I wont comment on the beer youre drinking, incase the beer youre drinking is of local brand I havent tasted.

Instead, I will taste it, and then tell you if it sucks or doesnt.

About as much as we all know about Spore.
We dont know everything, but we know pretty much.

Hence "debating" (too pretty of a word) being a form of entertainment, not something to fix the world with.

You couldnt have known anything, because CAPCOM doesnt tell anything. CAPCOMs style is a teaser, a trailer and some nonsense to trick you up. When RE4 was in production, we had a gameplay demo, location and the "theres no zombeehs". Which essentially means we didnt know anything. Except for those "hardcore fans" who got to the truth through speculation, inside sources and frame by frame teaser trailer checks. Besides, if you knew as much you claim to know, youd at least mention RE3.5

The vast majority of gamers say RE4 was "awesomesauce" and the community was hyped up during the production stages. Sh!t hit the fan amongst fans when the game was released. Hence QED.

(and psst, there was no weapon customization, a few weapons had an addon, just like titles before the 4th. RE4 had weapon upgrades, and the community was neutral about it, and this feature wasnt attached to a horn)

Agreed Chris. When spore comes out. I'll be the judge if I like it or not.

My estimate is. I'll play it for... 2 years minimum. At least.

Hell, I'm STILL playing most of the games I mentioned earlier. Especially Civilization IV. What a masterpiece.

If I don't know enough to say that it's the best game ever - then you certainly don't know enough to say that it sucks.

We'll have to wait till the beer is done fermenting to take a taste. I'm hoping for a Du Ciel Dier Imperial Sout, rather than a Coors Light Pale Ale.

My main thought is that Spore is a wrong game for the wrong market (hence the cultural degradation part). The attachments it has is like painting pics with crayons (hence the Mona Lisa part). Its flashy, its trendy, its going to sell as fvck, but its not going to fulfill the desires of hardcore modders as much as you hope or believe it will. I dont use Microsoft Movie Maker anymore because I know how to use Sony Vegas. But your dad will gladly use WMM and he will enjoy using it. Apply the same logic.

Anyway, you can always say anything, doesnt mean you know for sure. But saying is fun, so heres your "Oh snap!"

Im waiting for Bud Light. Its not sophisticated, but its a cheap bunch of light ale you can take along to have a carefree night with your friends. If you want sophisticated, smart, intelligent, check Crysis Sandbox 2.

I need more than shooters and Civ IV though.

Theres a little bit of "shooters and CIV4" in every game. Were drawn to violence and/or mind puzzles. Something for the brain, something for the brawl.

What do you think about the word "revolutionary" used in videogaming?

Re: Mass Effect PC Copy Protection is Overkill

Authentication devices like Securom do nothing but frustrate the legal user as well as open him/her up to exploits. Trust me, they are out there. Point of sale authentication systems tied into online anti-cheat authentication systems will be the future. Anything is breakable.

I don't see any relevance that Mass Effect is a "gooder" or "badder" game because of Securom.

Make a great game, people will buy it. Make a ****ty game, people won't buy it.

The only thing that is frustrating about this is when anti-piracy measures overshadow game development. I don't know if that is the case here....but I hope the game is good, and I do hope that someone can break the Securom BS. I don't want that crap on my machine because I know what can be done with it.

UPDATE: Just read that Wild Tangent is going to start rolling out with AAA titles and ads or rental time will be their model...sorta like Steam. (think playing COD4 or Crysis for free but with ads)

Of course this is all part of the Games for Windows initiative. So it seems that Alex St. John still has a weakspot for Billy & Co. Whoda thunkit?
