IGN: You've done the voice of Snake for ten years now. How has playing this character been different than the other voice work that you've done in your career? At the end of the day, how does it feel knowing that you've breathed life into the protagonist of one of the most renowned series of all time?
DH: Playing Snake has been significantly different than other voice jobs I've ever done. Primarily because one, most voice jobs end before ten years have gone by, two, most voice jobs don't make you the most famous screenwriter on the planet. Three, It pays a lot better and four, you rarely have to spend a decade throwing up, being shot/punched/stabbed/drowned/electrocuted on the vast bulk of other voice jobs.
IGN: On a side note: did you enjoy recording the voice samples for Super Smash Bros? Was it a bit of a switch taking Snake into that kind of environment rather than a Metal Gear game?
DH: I had a great time recording the SSB clips. We have a lot of fun with Snake in the recoding sessions, but most of that stuff never makes it into the game (too silly). This time we were able to let Snake's freak flag fly.
