Will GTA IV Come to the PC?

The guys over at IGN have posted up a new article today discussing the possibilities of GTAIV showing up on PC. Take a look:

Gentlemen, I don't know about you, but I've realized that the rest of the office seems to be suffering from GTA Fever. The Xbox and PlayStation guys are coming in late and leaving early. There are dark circles beneath their eyes, like they're not getting any sleep. And when they are at their desks, there's this nonstop chatter about popping fools and jacking cars. I must admit that we, the PC team, are not immune. Charles and I did buy Xbox 360 copies on Tuesday, though I have not jumped in quite yet.

So there are a few questions I'd like to pose to you. Some of these are questions that our readers have asked, as well. Firstly, do you think the PC will get Grand Theft Auto IV, and if so, when? Also, what would you like to see in a PC version that is unique to the platform?

Here's some background information. Grand Theft Auto began on the PC, but the series didn't really explode until Grand Theft Auto III, which introduced a new 3D engine that brought you into the game rather than give you a top-down, bird's-eye view like the previous two games. GTA III shipped on PS2 on October 22, 2001. The PC version was announced on March 25, 2002, and shipped two months later on May 21 and according to NPD, sold more than 400,000 copies.

I dont think we will see it on the PC tbh. I think they are going to keep this solely for the console sales.

They better port it over for the PC. Otherwise it is going to suck, and I will personally curse them.

They will release it for PC, because everyone will have bought it thats going to buy it pretty much by then.

I reckon probably Late 2009/Early 2010.

I really hope it comes to PC, even though they could easily use piracy as an excuse. I've only played Vice City on PS2 and SA on PC, but I thought it felt much, much better with a mouse + keyboard. Mainly because you can freely move the camera while driving, and don't have to deal with annoying auto-lock-on nonsense.

I think by then, they'll have made enough money from it for them not to care about piracy.

I heard they are releasing it on the PC late this year.

I think they should do it. As they have done it for ALL GTA games (except the stories which are only on handhelds)

Im guessing a half a year to year later we will see it on PC.

If if does come out on PC, I don't think I'll be buying it, I'll be happy with my PS3 version :)

GTA:VCS/LCS were ported over to PS2.

I didn't think it was an 'If they release it on PC' I thought it was a question of 'When will they release it on PC?'. I for one will be extremely dissapointed if they don't. I've been a loyal fan of the gta series, I can still look at GTA 1 in its original case pretty much right next to me and think back to the birds-eye view mayhem. I can remember playing GTA3 - on the PC, GTA VC - on the PC and GTA SA - on the PC and it felt natural. I haven't gotten it on the xbox 360 yet and I just think it'd be weird without the good ole' mouse and keyboard.

I'd also be happier as it would have much easier online (no need for xbox live fees or anything) and the modding groups.

I would rather play any GTA game on a console, but since i can't afford them i say PORT DAMNIT!

I'll admit that this kind of game is better suited towards consoles, but like Hawkers, I don't have one!!!!!

Just use a 360/PS3 controller for PC
