Re: Ben Cousins BFH Interview - More Hints Towards BF3

Like any good succesful developer, one hand on the money, one hand on making the most epic game that the other hand lets them.

Yeah I wouldn't mind modernish combat zone again, as long as its completely different to BF2, in the way, real conflicts, more realistic maps, but still balanced, fun to the play, more intelligent, but not complex caps, with a map that possibley has a border zone on it for capping, where you get bonus' for being within your own border, so less defensive weapons required, or better bunker busting attacking vehicles and methods possible.

Maybe to make it modern but real conflicts they need to look at things such as the Falklands and other small conflicts in 80s/90s.

E.G. Sierra Leone, Grenada, Beirut, Panama, Balkans, etc.

But i doubt they'll risk it *shrug* been plenty of games on gulf war previously, just never any really good ones that i'm aware of (Excluding total conversion mods).

More "small" conflicts in the game instead of just one big conflict, ya ?

How do you really know? Maybe EA is just basking in the speculation with no intention of making BF3 simply so they stay in the lime light...

There is absolutely no way that bf3 is'nt in the making. Comon! it's the most incredible franchise in recent history.

In my opinion, 64 players was too much. I never really played on servers with more than 40 players, so hundreds would be grim.

If there is money to be made, they will.

I would like to see them go back to WWII, but in the snow with Battle of the Bulge. Agreed 64 players too much I also stayed in the 40 rang player servers.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion about what makes BF, but IMHO 64 player all out warefare complete with super vehicle fire power is what made this series, not 40 player Strike at Karkand servers. There's COD for that. I'm not saying thats what you guys play but, the game is about big, crazy, arcadish super fun gameplay. Let's just hope they make alot of different gameplay and map choices so everyone is happy. And for God sakes lets hope they make it easier for Mods. Fingers not crossed! :)

                    I know. :salute:

Besides, EA doesn't bask in speculation, they bask in money.

-IF- there is a bf3, we won't see it until at least '09 Probably late in the year at that.

Correct, but their announcement will be Q4 08 or Q1 09 for sure.

Ahh well I have always known since the 2142 that they wouldnt leave the battlefield series at that, they make too much money out of it and its a very successful pc title

I too would expect by the end of 08 for official announcements or sooner when they get Heroes out of the way

I am betting modern conflict again, recapturing the greatness of BF2 but fixing its flaws. The leaked documents hinted at such a things but alas are not to be trust. Still modern combat done properly would be immense, a streamlining and fixing of the stats system as well, more content such as maps;equippables/vehicles will be great

I think they will up the player limit as well, although the frostbite engine will be a demanding one with the destructible environments (although that could always be optional serverside maybe) they may decide to simply give people the choice, hopefully with some crazy huge maps. The choice of engine might also explain the delay, Crysis showed that sales are slow to pick up (but still very high) when people are unsure of hardware reqs BUT I am also praying that they are taking their time and not rushing it out

Im really hoping that Dice can redeem themselves with BF3 and nail it on the head because if they did it would be the only game I played along with TF2
