    E3 Loses Two Big Publishers

The Entertainment Software Association has confirmed to GameDaily BIZ that both Activision and Vivendi are actually no longer with the ESA. Take a look:

"While the Entertainment Software Association remains the preeminent voice for U.S. computer and video game publishers, we can confirm that Activision and Vivendi Games opted to discontinue their membership. The ESA remains dedicated to advancing our industry's objectives such as protecting intellectual property, preserving First Amendment rights, and fostering a beneficial environment for the entire industry. Our high level of service and value to members and the larger industry remains unchanged," said Rich Taylor, Senior Vice President of Communications and Research, ESA.

Gaming Nexus has reported that Activision will not be displaying its products at E3 2008. The publisher of the Guitar Hero and Call of Duty series will still be holding a separate press event on the first night of the conference.

"After careful consideration, for business reasons Activision has decided not to participate in any official E3 activities," read a statement by Activision to Gaming Nexus. "We wish the ESA best of luck with the show."

According to Joystiq, other publishers currently MIA for E3 2008 are Blizzard/Sierra, Atlus, Majesco, NCsoft and WBIE. Read more...

With E3 having reduced it's size and publishers pulling out do you think E3 will bounce back? Post your thoughts here.

Re: E3 looses two big publishers

I don't really care all the much about E3 to be honest, because i can't go. If they made it a general public convention, then i'd probably care who was there.

That's a shame, but seeing as how I don't really expect any big titles from them this year yet, it's not much of a concern for me.

If Nintendo were to drop out though...

It's somewhat great to see Activision come up with press conferences than relying on such an even.

Nintendo? Wait till Microsoft leaves or something.

This most likely wont make any difference at all since we wil still get the exact sae information about their games anyway.
