It's beyond my age range, even the Atari 2600 was, but considering I was born and raised in a third world country, the 2600 was the top of the line even during the 90's

Personally, Japan seems to be far behind many other nations even technology wise. I don't know what all the hype and stereotype is all about.

Just because they produce futuristic anime doesn't make them a futuristic country :P

that was a poor statement most of the newest technology's comes from Japan, if you ever go there you will see in the big cities the wow ness of the technology there.
