EA recently held a Battlefield: Bad Company community day event at their headquarters in Redwood Shores on Friday, April 18th, and members of MyInternetServices were there to represent Total Battlefield! Our very own Artem Nezvigin has written a preview article to share his impressions of the game. Here is a snippet from his preview:
We played the Xbox 360 version while sitting literally 1 foot away from 40 inch monitors. The game is beautiful. The environments are rich and the real time dynamic lighting is nothing short of bad ass. To get a better understanding of graphical quality, picture Strike at Karkand for BF2 on maxed out settings with less fog and large view distances.
There isn’t that much of a leap in texture quality, but the art direction is definitely better this time around. The in-game world has more realistic feel to it, partially due to the lighting and the bloom effects. I suspect that they could have made the game look more detailed, but only at the expense of more fog, larger load times and smaller maps. The addition of destructible environments (covered below) also adds to that list.
What did stand out were the effects. Nearly every effect you can imagine from explosions to the dust hitting the air when a tank fires to smoke from damaged vehicles are much more refined and fluid.
