Battlefield: Bad Company Ships June 23rd

In a press release today, EA has announced that Battlefield: Bad Company will ship on June 23, 2008 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Take a look:
The Blockbuster Entertainment Experience of the Summer Isn't at the Movies... Battlefield: Bad Company Ships on June 23. Special Gold Edition Offers Fans Exclusive Content at Launch.

Prepare for the gold rush! This summer, the blockbuster action event of the season will not be in theatres. EA DICE, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that Battlefield: Bad Company™ will ship to retail outlets on June 23. Action fans and gamers worldwide will get their chance to join the ‘B’ company on exciting, sometimes irreverent, missions that take them through deserts, cities and mountain terrain to capture the spoils of war. Players will experience the tactical, destructive power in the deep single player campaign or go online for intense multiplayer action that only the Battlefield team can deliver.

For a limited time only, gamers will be able to purchase the Gold Edition of Battlefield: Bad Company. The Gold Edition pack features exclusive content with behind-the-scenes action and strategy videos giving Battlefield: Bad Company players tricks and tips on how to own the battlefield. The Gold Edition also gives gamers early access to five unique weapons that players can take into battle. These weapons can also be unlocked after the launch of the game by ranking up to the highest level in multiplayer mode.

“Players can forget about using walls as cover as we’ve fundamentally changed the way to play shooters offline and online through the use of tactical destruction,” says Karl-Magnus Troedsson, Senior Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company. “Players will get the chance to reap the spoils of war this summer as they annihilate the enemy and search for gold in the dark, character-driven, single player storyline while returning Battlefield fans will love the intense and vehicle-heavy multiplayer.”

So be sure to stay tuned for all the latest news on Bad Company before the game ships on June 23rd!

Wow! You are pretty lucky!

Holy Crap - that is awsome timing! (For you - lol) I'm not even going to be in the states all summer so I won't get to play it until later in the fall... Even worse, that is when school starts...

        Cool. You lucky person.

EH? WHAT?!? Of ALL things - the only thing you can say is that you've HEARD it's not great... well, well. You better do your homework. lol!

I've felt, heard, touched, seen, and even smelled Battlefield: BC (not really )and know it's going to be great no matter what haterz say. I'm not calling you a hater, but if you only heard that is was going to bad, I would actually look into it for myself. :icon_thumbsup:

Just in case your not familiar with the new Frostbite engine Battlefield: BC is using, then you might want to check out all the new features and graphics that it will bring to life on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Sorry if it *sounds* like I'm yelling by the all caps, but for real dude...

Bad Company is changing the way First Person Shooters are played today and whether you hate EA or not, everyone must pick up a copy of BC.

This line should say it all to all doubters/haters out there...

This is something really outside of the box, so to speak. And if you are into FPS games, you should most definetly check out BF:BC...

Unfortunately it's being done on consoles instead of PC's, where you have customers that are old enough that they don't have to ask mommy to buy them the newest game.

That's very true in a way GrossKopf, but people need to realize, espicially with Bad Company, that this isn't just another FPS game. Consoles might be out of reach for most of the fans in the battlefield series, but I have a 360 and I'm glad so for the majority of you out there, BC is a reason to get an Xbox if you don't have one.

Yup, Don't worry folks though! Just because this game is really going to be outside the box doesn't mean that when you buy it from the store that it won't be in there...

My kids won't be asking my wife, it will be "Daddy, Daddy, pleeaaassseeee...."

And I'll get it for the PS3 so that I can play it with them.

Yes and no, somebody first asked if Bad Company would be on the PC, and from there it kind of turned into a debate of who thinks that it will or won't, and then we're sort of "off topic." lol :p

*Pretty sure BF3 is not Battlefield: BC though... (I don't think that anybody knows FOR SURE that B:BC will be release on PC later, but it's possible.) :|:

There was leaked PDF file roaming around the interwebs while back.. And it could be that the Battlefield 3 is named as Bad Company..

Here's the info what was in that PDF
                              * Release in late 2008
                              * Powered by “Frostbite DX”
                              * Set in year modern day (just like BF2, ed.)
                              * Will ship with 8 maps, each supporting up to 40-players per team
                              * Two playable factions, NATO and MEC (Middle Eastern Coalition)
                              * Same “ticket-based” gameplay style as before
                              * Maps are mostly urban, based in Middle East
                              * Squads and Commanders are present, introduced are “Battalions” which consist of three to four squads.
                              * Five playable classes; Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic and Support
                              * Will feature 48 different vehicles (24 for each faction)
                              * Will feature 34 different weapons (17 for each faction) and another 22 unlocks (for both factions), in total 56 different weapons.
                              * Other unlocks include different types of ammunition, body armor, helmets, camouflage and accessories.
                              * Possible public beta in “Summer 2008″
                              * Online stats tracking, awards and “real world ranks”
                              * “Soldier” feature, looks like MMO-styled characters and avatars
                              * Ranked servers will be available for resellers weeks before the game ships (for testing, apparently, ed.)
                              * In-game replay and recording feature
                              * VoIP, friends list, in-game IM-client and “extensive clan support”
                              * Built-in auto software updater (no more patches!, ed.)
                              * Widows Vista and OS X (no XP?!, ed.)
                              * Announcement and teaser trailer in January 2008.

A map is mentioned by name, called “Baghdad Burning”, and appears to be a massive urban map, similar to BF2’s very popular “Strike at Karkand”. The game is powered by “Frotbite DX”, currently the Frostbite engine is used in Battlefiled: Bad Company on PS3 and Xbox 360. The “DX” could refer to DirectX (10?), a PC version of the Frostbite engine.

Please note that none of this is confirmed, we’ve emailed a few people from EA and DICE (Battlefield developers) and will update the article as soon as we know more. Also note that we cannot, for obvious (legal) reasons, release the PDF document. Stay tuned for more info.

[Update 1] A few wanted to know if the document mentions in-game advertising, it does not, but wouldn’t be surprising, considering BF2142 had in-game advertising.

[Update 2] EA responded to the rumor with a “no comment” statement. Still waiting for a reply from DICE (which will probably be the same).

[Update 3] For clarification, the document doesn’t say that XP is not supported, it only lists Vista and OS X.

[Update 4] Further investigation reveals that EA DICE owns the domain “battlefield3.com” (not so important, since it was registered in 2004, so was battlefield4.com etc.). Still no reply from DICE. Stay tuned for further updates.
                              And here's the link

Just remember that nothing of this has been officially confirmed by EA/DICE. Allthough the PDF came originally from "tipster"...
