    Retailers Warning To Hopeful Gamers

The release of Grand Theft Auto IV is being eagerly anticipated by gamers all across the globe and because of that eagerness, to prowl the streets of Liberty City wielding a hacksaw, retailers are turning people away for pre-orders who maybe disappointed come the launch date.
In the UK, GAME reports that "We cannot guarantee delivery on the day of release for orders placed on or after the 7th of April." Jersey based online retailer Play echo'd pretty much the same warning as Game, they are indeed sold out on the PS3 Standard Edition.
What this means is, you may need to purchase the special edition to get your game the day it comes out.

For the record the it's the same deal in stores, we recieved an e-mail about 6pm this evening outlining pretty much the same sentiment. Infact the pre-order SKUs have been removed and no more pre-orders are being taken.

It seems that essentially if you don't have a pre-order you are not going to get a copy of the game, my gut feeling is as well that even some pre-order customers will not get the game as well.

I've had GTA4 preordered since November, and if my copy isn't there when I walk into the store... well, lets just say they'll be a rumble. =)

Yeah... You'll get the unedited version from *place what we shall not mention*..

I did the same thing with Manhunt 2... :p

Allthough it's stupid that they edit a game. I think they should put 2 versions of the game out. One what is edited for kids, and one what is for adults..

Wasn't there some Australian laws causing the editing?

You couldn't edit Manhunt 2 for kids though, you'd have a blank screen lol.

That's true... But with some games it could be done. Like GTA4...

Everytime there is something bit more "for adults" material in the game. Just fill the screen with:

And replace the game sounds/music with Teletubbies theme song or something...

Teletubbies theme song!? Thats worse than the effen hot coffee mod!
