    Infinity Ward is #2 Developer

GameDeveloper Magazine recently released a list of the top 50 game developers in the industry. Take a look:
    1. Nintendo Kyoto (Brain Age, Wii Play)
    2. Infinity Ward (Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)
    3. Blizzard Entertainment (World Of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade)
    4. Electronic Arts Canada (FIFA Soccer 08, NBA Street: Homecourt)
    5. Valve (Portal, Team Fortress 2)
"The second place went to Activision-owned developer Infinity Ward, thanks to both the resounding critical and commercial success of its 2007 release Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and high scores and healthy praise for the developer’s working conditions, professionalism, and attention to quality."

Be sure to see more here.

      My order:-

      1. Valve (Portal, Team Fortress 2)
      2. Infinity Ward (Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)
      3. Nintendo Kyoto (Brain Age, Wii Play)
      4. Electronic Arts Canada (FIFA Soccer 08, NBA Street: Homecourt)
      5. Blizzard Entertainment (World Of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade)

Although realistically Blizzard wouldn't even be on my top 5.

Put Valve at Number 3 and I agree entirely. :)

I'm somewhat surprised EA placed above Valve. True, EA puts out a lot of games, many of which are decent, but they also put out a lot of very rushed and minimally improved products (ie. their EA Sports line). I don't think they're penalized enough for the bombs.

The report was based on reputation and sales data, through anonymous surveys and assessments of sales charts in the US, the UK, and Japan, the number of games released each year, and the average metacritic rating.
Reading that part alone told me that those results are corrupted in many sorts. There were so many games that would dominate not only COD4 but the others as well they just lacked the sales data with a bias from metacritic data which is border lined freakin ignorant.

I enjoy COD4 so don't get me wrong but this list isn't correct..Its very true since already a few have posted in this thread to say different than the top 5 alone regardless of where they stood, some objected to the top 5 order.

                A rearrangement, this is IMO:

                1. Nintendo - Not for Brain Age and Wii Play (the former was developed in a matter of months by a handful of developers working part time), but for classics like Super Mario Galaxy.
                2. Valve - For the Orange Box, obviously
                3. IW - For CoD4 of course!
                4. Blizzard - I played WoW earlier this year, but Blizzard is second last on the list only because I dislike
                5. EA

I would put Crytek in the first 5 for shure, not only for the GREAT engine, but for the GREAT game too!

It may be a good game, they may be a good developer (I wouldn't know, haven't played it); however, it didn't get a lot of money.

Is Crytek not the one at fault for either the bad optimization or the needy engine?

It could be due to the fact that EA slapped their name on it since they were the distrubutor and many people, like myself, boycotted it for that one reason.

EA/Dice sucks. Kaos/THQ sucks. IW kicks ***. I will certianly trust future titles from them, unlike those other two mentioned.

IW was good in my book till Blizzard took over... so I would say all of them suck that you mentioned as of now.

So, just because Blizzard "took over" means that IW is no good anymore?

                              Great logic!
