TotalCOD4 Custom Map Day Starts Tomorrow

Total Call of Duty 4 is happy to announce the start of a weekly custom map day! From now on the TotalCOD4 server will feature a rotation of 9 custom maps all day long on Friday. We feel this is a great chance for everyone to try out some of the impressive maps being made by the community. Here is the rotation we will be using for tomorrow, note that all maps will be played on team deathmatch and softcore:

• Backlot 2
• Harbor
• Heaven Source
• Matroska
• Modern Matmata
• Offices
• Sharqi Peninsula (Day)
• Shipment 2
• Village (Day)

If you'd like, you can download the maps before hand given the mirrors in the links above, but we have also put the maps on a separate server so you can auto-download them upon connection at a fairly fast speed. You can get the server information for the TotalCOD4 server in my signature.

The rotation will begin at 12AM PST tonight! We hope you guys stop in to try some of the maps out and continue to join every Friday. Also be sure to play over the weekend for hardcore gameplay and a variety of different game modes.

Oooh! Custom advertising graphic and everything! Very nice.

Very smart to also make a post over at the infinityward.com forums...we should make sure to bump it each Thur/Fri to help generate traffic.

I hope whomever is available on Fridays is able to help populate and support the server. :)

As you can see from the name, it's still in the beta stage - not yet ready for wide release. Last I read on the IW.com forums, not all gametypes or helo paths were set up yet. If you're gonna run a map on a custom map server, it should be relatively stable and complete. His "beta 3" version should be out soon, according to the author's comments, so maybe a final playable version won't be far behind.

I have played it and it is stable. Its better then half the maps on that list. So please play it. Trust me its fine theres not major bugs. Just needs some polish like some grass in not on the ground and stuff like that. Just run it in S&D and TDM. Plus no one likes helis anyways. Its a must have map.

Well, I think the plan is to rotate some or all of the custom maps each week and try out new ones, so maybe you'll see it in the next week or so.

I guess we'll do it by ear, if there is a map people don't like, we bring in a new one.

Yep! We'll be keeping the really good custom maps in the rotation that are people's favorites and swapping some out for new maps that are released in the weeks time between these custom map days. I'd be happy to throw Dawn in when the final version is released.

I just got done playing the first three maps in the rotation with some guys...quite fun :)
