School Shooting Blamed on CS

The New York Post have stated that Counter-Strike was to blame for the recent shootings at Northern Illinois University. Take a look:

"Stephen Kazmierczak, 27, played the wildly popular game Counter-Strike while studying sociology at Northern Illinois University in 2003 and 2004.

"He played a lot of video games, especially Counter-Strike, really loud," said dorm mate Ben Woloszyn, 24."

"In real life, Kazmierczak - who had become "erratic" recently after shunning medication for an undisclosed illness - purchased weapons like those used in Counter-Strike, including a Glock handgun and a pump-action Remington shotgun, which he bought legally on Feb. 9."

How could he buy a gun if he was on medication for mental issues. Once again, another reason for gun control laws, but no one ever seems interested.

Totally agreed. But as usual we're taking the easy way out blaming it on a video game.

You have to be seriously mental to lose sight of reality when playing video games if you then go out and perform like actions to those in FPS's

Um maybe he saw a movie with those weapons in it maybe a picture just cause there in CS doesn't mean he got the idea from the game. Movies like "Hostel" and "Saw" are way worse than CS and would influence a lot more than CS.

But where do you draw the line? What if students were allowed to carry on campus? What would have happened then? Suppose one of his victims was allowed to defend themselves?

There was one big gun control law in place that did not stop him, the campus was a "gun free zone".

Wasn't really that effective.

And, the problem is, if they were allowed to protect themselves, more people would then carry firearms on them, and thus i bet there would be more gun crime.

I don't like to draw comparisons, but you don't hear about this everyday other week in England, and we have our fair share of nutters.
