PCgames.de Exclusive Battlefield Heroes Video Interview

PCgames.de has posted up a three part video that includes an interview with the creators of Battlefield Heroes, including senior producer Ben Cousins. Below you will find the video links as well as highlights from the videos. Check it out:

    • You select one character and one class at the beginning of the game, then level that character up as you go.
    • The game is 3rd person as opposed to 1st person perspective.
    • Each class has a system of special abilities.
    • The achievement system has been turned into a mission system, letting the player decide what they want to do.
    • Rewards for these missions can include new weapons or character accessories like a hat.
    • Experience points will be used to level up and unlock new items such as new clothes for your soldier.
    • Advertisements will be seen on an online stat website as well as ingame menus
    • Each soldier has 15 parts to customize ranging from gloves to hats to pants.
    • You will not have to pay to compete in Battlefield Heroes.
    • The game will separate new players from those with more experience to help balance the gameplay.
    • Levels can get as high as 50+
    • Players will get to choose from 3 classes ranging from light to heavy.
Commando (Light) Class - A stealth type class featuring a sniper rifle as your weapon. Has the ability to cloak and lay traps.
Soldier (Medium) Class - A well balanced attack class featuring an SMG as your weapon. Can see enemies behind walls and can throw multiple grenades.
Gunner (Heavy) Class - Features larger machine guns for your weapon and can pick up enemy grenades and toss them back.
    • Battlefield Heroes has been in development for a year now with a team of 25-30 people working on it.
    • An open beta will be released this summer that will allow you to also create a character you can then transfer when the full game is released.

To learn more and to hear it from the DICE guys themselves, be sure to check out the above videos!

        Win
        - An open beta will be released this summer that will allow you to also create a character you can then transfer when the full game is released. (Win, so betas will count for something apart from bug reporting)
        - Levels can get as high as 50+ (Just as long as it takes longer than a week to get it.)
        - The achievement system has been turned into a mission system, letting the player decide what they want to do. (One of the only good parts of ETQW)
        - Rewards for these missions can include new weapons or character accessories like a hat. (A HAT! Now, that is awesome. )
        - Advertisements will be seen on an online stat website as well as ingame menus. (Only win if not in game.)
        - You will not have to pay to compete in Battlefield Heroes. (Free Games FTW!)
        - The game will separate new players from those with more experience to help balance the gameplay. (Thats good, wonder what the cut off points will be like.)

        Fail
Battlefield Heroes has been in development for a year now with a team of 25-30 people working on it. (What about BF2 1.5?)
Each class has a system of abilities that can be loosely compared to "spells". (Sounds like WoW, but if its like Perks in COD4, then see Win)
        - The game is 3rd person as opposed to 1st person perspective. (Meh, if its like MGS, then fail.)

How lazy can you be? It's a FREE game...they wouldn't be asking much if this is the case.

sounds cool, good interviews and lots of positive sides, a really negative thing is that it's a TPS and not a FPS

I do so hope that is meant entirely in American or i am going to insist on pink Lycra Y fronts.

The only thing i dont like about this kind of information is that in the past too much of it has never been true. It would be nice to have some form of assurance that this time reality and statements did co-exist in the same place.

Either way it is good to have some more information, even if some of it is a little worrying!

That one thing right there ruins it for me. I don't play 3rd person games. Oh well.

It is certainly a huge disappointment, I don't recall any third person shooters I have liked, even on a console where they belong.

                          Conspiracy Theory:
Maybe they deliberately made the game unlikely to attract the Battlefield fans, because they don't want it to compete with BF3?

So instead they are going for a different target group. I cant really imagine who, this sounds a bit like a military version of GTA III

They have done the past, they have done the present and they have done the future, there wasn't really anywhere else they could go so they are going back to the beginning with a different style.

When I first started playing multiplayer games I was a great fan of third person, now I hate it.

The 'achievements system' sounds to much like CoD4's achievement system.

Other than that it doesn't seem that bad . Worth a try at least .

I know I will try it
                              Free sounds good to me.

Battlefield is a game alot of us HATE to love for many reasons but alot of us come back with our tail between our legs to get our BF fix and for this reason I sure will at the very least give it a try.

Thank you TGN for the Info.

                              :salute:
