Looking Into the Server Browser

Infinity Ward's FourZeroTwo has posted a brief update over on the official IW boards regarding the server browser issues. Take a look:

I wanted to let you guys know we DO see your posts and concerns regarding the Server browser. I wanted to let you know that we ARE looking into it and working on some upgrades for it.

It should have a update coming to it via the next PC Patch (1.5) which should resolve the issues a lot of you are reporting with it since v.1.4.

Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on this upcoming patch.

Good that they are fixing it as the community can't seem to shut up about it, but in my opinion its not that big a deal, how many people go looking through all 14,000+ just to find the one they want, most people use the Ip, been the case for years. But yea its good their fixing it I guess .

I would be surprised if more than 25% of the userbase even knows what an IP-address is.
Personally I let the browser sort after lowest ping and filter out unwanted servers, and then pick one with an interesting game.
That can be quite annoying when the browser likes to triple the ping.

Good to hear that they are 'fixing' it...

I usually go by the players/ping in the browser... But sometimes when i can't find interesting game, i press refresh, and all i get is servers with 2-5 players in it. After a while when it has loaded all the servers, then i might see server with 25-32 players in it(and this is just one)...

I need to quit the game, suft to tgn read the new threads/posts. Go back to game, and then i get lot's of servers...

Hopefully they also fix the Realtek/Vista problem that has prevented me from playing for weeks now.

Agreed. I like playing on hardcore servers. This way the server admins don't have to put that in the title of the server name.

server search(by name) feature wouldn't hurt either...

I must say I love how so many members here don't believe there is a problem, simply because they don't have a problem.

Sorting by lowest ping for me leaves the lowest ping as ~200. I have to use gametracker to find a server Joining lowest ping (200) doesn't always work either, because that could be the true ping of the server, so it's really messed up.

But I'm glad to hear they're fixing it.
