School Shooting Threat Linked to Call of Duty 4

TeamXBOX has posted an article today about a shocking school threat shooting related to the Call of Duty 4 game. Take a look:
Cumberland Times reports that a Frostburg State University student has been taken into custody after an investigation confirmed that the 19-year-old gamer issued a threat of “shooting up the school” while playing Call of Duty 4. Shaw faces a maximum penalty of one year jail time and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

According to court records, Shaw was playing the game “Call for Duty 4” in the XBOX Live gaming system with players around the country when he allegedly stated the threat of “shooting up the school.” The statement reportedly contained a description from Shaw concerning “how he was going to do it.”

If you're stupid enough to say something like that you need to be locked up for life anyway.

Yeah, you can pretty much guarantee that.

Just another socially-inept little twit trying to feel powerful & have more self-esteem through the gaming/Internetz world.

No fan of Thompson, but I am worried that this is the kind of stuff that leads to legislated-prohibitions.
Seems like the last one we had didn't work out too well.
(the 18th Ammendment...........the Volstead Act) All those created was a way for organised crime to make huge profits. Will we never learn..........?

Glad this guy was caught before he did anything. Give some XP points to the players who turned him in, also, BOOM, "Turn in Psycho School Shooter While Playing Online" Challenge Completed.

A lot of these people announce these things b/c they want something they never get, attention.

When I was a kid, Dungeons and Dragons was big. Violence was blamed on that. People have been blaming violence on TV for a long time. What it comes down to is kids with psychological problems that get densitized by everything in life - games, movies, real life (news reports of shootings, etc).

Ever since 'rock n roll' was invented, it too was to blame for the moral decay of our society. Then television, then liberal colleges, then the sexual revolution, then blah...blah... whatever.
All this does is try to place the responsibility of raising our children beyond the reach of their parents. Its not the game, its the lack of parental control. WHERE are the parents...? Maybe if a child commits a crime and the parents are also put in jail too, maybe this would stop.....?
