Just a comment, shouldn't this be in the "Mod News" section?

And in answer to the question, with the new v1.3 patch, if indeed it does fix the sv_pure issue, then you probably cannot use these on ranked servers.

I could be wrong, but I think these skins are for SP and not MP. He states in his post that it changes the Marines uniforms in the later levels to the SEAL skins used earlier.

your right, this is for SP only, i did it so there is a less chance of PB kicking you in MP.

It would be awesome to be able to use skins in ranked games. But then you would have people wearing like Santa Claus skins and that would ruin the game lol.

What? Santa would rule! I dont know about you, but a santa running around popping heads while yelling Ho! Ho! Ho! would brighten up my day.

I, along with a lot of other people, miss the custom skins of the MOH days.

Aside from our personalized skins, my clan used to have "holiday" skins as well...for Christmas, we'd have "good" and "bad" Santa's, snowmen, etc, and run them on the server for a couple weeks. At Halloween, there were TONS of great monster and killer skins created by the community that we encouraged our guests to download and use.

Character customization really added to the game back then. One of the suggestions I made to IW on the CharlieOscarDelta survey was to implement a sort of "Mr. Potatohead" mix'n'match type of system at the very least - so that you could choose from a set of helmets, faces, bodies, boots, gear, etc, etc (all within reason, and not looking silly) so that you could have different looking custom soldiers on the battlefield.

^^ Isn't that how games like Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six work online? I believe it is, and while it isn't a very deep customization, it does give you a sense of uniqueness.

I don't know those games in particular, but I do know that other games do use such a system. While you can't do everything you want, I do understand you have to set limits on skins, because it's too easy to cheat if you let people upload their own.

Depth of the system could be accomplished by a wide variety of choices in each category...say at least 25 (or more) of each different thing...you'll quickly get millions of different combinations. And maybe the option to have the game upload a simple graphic, change it to a "safe" file format used by the game, and then apply that graphic to your arm, or shoulder, or helmet as a unique "clan" symbol.
