A New Gaming Experience With Ageia

Browsing through the Total Gaming Network, I'm sure many of you have seen the advertisements for the game Warmonger or the ads for the Ageia Extreme Physics Mod for UT3. But has anyone truly taken the time to try this game or mod out? If not, let me fill you guys in on what you're missing.

Based around the Ageia PhysX hardware, Warmonger is a free downloadable game that does away with the old static gameplay of shooters and focuses on an always changing gameplay environment. Each level is completely destructible allowing for a variety of different areas of cover. Such a feature also to note is the physical presence of smoke and the ability to effectively use it as a means to mask yourself.

Next up we have the Ageia Extreme Physics Mod for UT3. Much like Warmonger, this mod pack allows UT3 players to experience brand new gameplay that is greatly impacted by the destructible environments. The pack features a tornado that destroys anything in its path and a new weapon that lets you control the physics by manipulating debris. This was a dead attempt right on the start. I wouldn't pay a cent for seeing a glass dropping 0,01% more realistically, which soon will be achieved by Quad-core CPU's anyways. Just as uselessa as the Killer NIC.

Yeah, they reviewed the Killer NIC in Custom PC and it actually worked. It's effectively a mini Linux PC on a card dealing with network connections. However, it just costs too much.

I'll just go ahead and say this: you do not need an aegea physics card to play this game. It'll use your processor to crunch the physics calculations to emulate what the physics card would do.

You will, however, experience a noticable performance decrease. Still worth a try, though.

It never is a good buy. Extra 2ms doesn't make you any better, none. And it costs too much, WAY too much. It is NOT a good buy, even if you have the money and play competitively.

I bet you a lot they don't. They most likely have their own Internet lines which would be fast enough. If your pinging at like 8ms, then another 2ms won't make a difference.

Anyone remember CellFactor, that PhysX tech demo? So overhyped...turns out, you could run it just fine without a PhysX card, the only thing that had to be disabled was cloth simulation. Not to mention Nvidia's 8 series cards allow physics computations to be done by the GPU.

That being said, I saw a video of one of these maps and it looked great. But you can do that without a PhysX card. :)

Well to be honest your right most of the true gamers pay more for there internet than most of you pay for your computer, could be like me who have T1 lines and great pings game play ect. Sorry the Killer nic does
Have some advantage and most true gamers do have them along as stated the 8800 ultra. Not many of you pay
$800 month for internet period.
