Honestly who made you a moderator? Its beyond me. I have been here a long time and seen fantastic moderators but this is simply pathetic. I didnt ask YOU to find it out did i, there are plenty of other australians here who might have known the answer.

Anyway before things get out of hand, on the steam forums everyone is going nuts because the release still hasnt happened even though its now 1:31 PST, so it looks like we will not get it for around another 9 hours now.

      grrr...

Went on Wiki, entered "Call of Duty 4". Found the following:

Released in Australia on November 7, 2007. The game also became available on Steam on November 6, 2007 for pre-purchase and will be available to play on November 12, 2007

      Is that cool?

Obviously so, you probably have a few more hours to wait. The likelyhood is that it is released at 12.00am (US time) on the 12th of Nov so it would be roughly 4.00pm your time?

Might be an hour earlier or later as i don't know which Time Zone they use.

Well its past 12am now so the guys over at the steam forums are pretty disappointed but as they have said, it probably will not get released like other Vavle games because its from a different developer and Steam mainly concentrate on getting valve games out early.

I think i will be playing tomorrow morning at the earliest tbh.

Ah well, be patient i guess.

Just out of interest, why are you going to get it via Steam. Is it cheaper, or just easier than driving to your nearest store?

Well because im in Australia its about $49 cheaper for us over here which i think is worth the extra wait. If it was only a few dollars cheaper i would have preferred a hard copy as i usually do.

That's just screwed up thinking on their part... "It costs us $X to package the game and $X in the cost for the DVD's, so we have to charge $50. On steam our costs are reduced by $X because there's no packaging or DVD costs, so let's charge the same...." *shakes head*

I don't think he was asking you personally. If you don't know, then perhaps you shouldn't answer the question, rather than making yourself look snippy.

It may be at full price on Steam but there are advantages.
                    • unlimited downloads
                    • fat, fast connection
                    • instant updates
Even EA is now charging to 'extend' your DL availability for their games. I think Steam has quite a lot of functionality which is desirable to me. If CoD4 was available from Steam at release, I would not have purchased a DVD version.

at least with the DVD version you can sell it to someone else after your done with it or don't care to play it any longer..you can't do that with the downloaded "Steam" version.

I'd much rather have the disk in hand cause I will prob end up selling mine within a few weeks since its not really doing it for me and with Crysis releasing tomorrow my time will be limited.

You can Gift it to a mate and then claim hard cash

But it doesnt matter as Steam has screwed everyone over, most of the people who bought it off steam still cant play due to so many errors in the downloaded file.

They have really done it this time.

The problem was that the preload file was absolute crap. Quite a bit had to be done in order to fix it, the simplest solution of which is a total reinstall, though this solution is the lengthiest.

If you intend to buy COD4 of Steam now though, it really shouldn't be a turn off, seeing as how the final file now works.
