A PDF has been leaked to game news site Digital Battle that reportedly contains some of the first details of the next game in the Battlefield series, appropriately titled Battlefield 3. According to the PDF, the modern day game pits two factions, NATO and MEC (Middle Eastern Coalition) against each other, arming them with 48 different vehicles and 56 different weapons.The site reports the game will ship with eight maps in late 2008, and a teaser trailer will emerge early next year. Perhaps most exciting in the short term is that a public beta is rumored for next summer. EA responded to the rumor with a 'no comment' statement.

Gee, 8 whole maps? Sounds like an expansion pack, not a new game. BF2 started with 12 and that was not really enough.

Vietnam and 1942 each sold more copies than BF2...mostly due to the mods, people wanted to play them so they had to buy the original game. In this case with BF2 you have major differences and those that are addicted to stats, not to mention server admins addicted to Bf2cc controls to get their power fix by kicking a game player off their server.


I don't know about you but I can't think of another reason why the mods for BF2 are not played as much as they are....ask the only DCON guy left working on that mod.

I say let BF series die with 2142 and move on.

8 maps must be the standard now, and why not when you can milk the community for $10 just to get 3 new maps.......

bf9= your born(spawn naked) ..you have nothing!you have to work your way up making bark armour and sling shots .the only tool you have is a credit card to upgrade:laugh:
