No we found some middle ground. We increased it some more, enough so that people are able to jump on the things they couldn't in 0.15. Yet not the standard BF2 height because that is just ridiculous. I know what you're thinking (you're thinking we should have just gone back to BF2 height), but at least try it out see what you think first .

Still lots more to come from us lot. Don't forget we'll be becoming the fastest releasing mod team out there, pumping out new updates every 45 days or so. The mod will be becoming more competition worthy (regardless of whether they want to support us or not). Then there's all the singleplayer support that's being done from 3rd party modders. New content on the way. New menus, huds, displays etc. More balance addressing. And most importantly, the mod will be getting ever closer to the gameplay of DC. So show some support and get on those servers. :)

Well, just because you (or others) claim we failed doesn't mean we're going to curl up into a ball and give up. I personally feel we succeeded on many levels even if we don't have a 1000 players. I can still jump on a close to full server and play any given night of the week. Sure, there's some players/server in limbo ATM due to the unhyped releae, but that will change.

Why we're doing this now? We wanted to do this all along, but certain circumstances prevented it. Now we're clear from that and will continue to push on.

If you have knowledge of an unmodified server based in the US that is almost full every night of the week...by all means, please share because I would love to play on it. Could you post the IP of these servers please so that the rest of the public can see these servers as well.

            Thanks

I see a lot of people saying there are no US servers to play on. So there are definitely a fair few US players out there. Just seems to me like you're all just waiting for others to join first. Since you're all thinking the same thing, the servers are staying empty. The reason you're seeing populated EU servers (and no I'm not talking about the fake "Ranked" server here either) is because some of the EU players aren't waiting around for 20+ players before joining a server...

I didn't say unmodified I usually play on CDU since it's almost always full. I don't mind the ssm's because they aren't too radical and it's a fun server.

                  Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released

I have contacted a few EU-clans about the idea of starting up a weekly war in DCon, where people are gathering one night a week in a full server (hopefully). Different maps and themes every wednesday night for example.
Just like Datorbutiken (EU) is doing with thier successful POE2 Wednesday Night Mayhem.

Hopefully this will let DCon live and become quite popular again.
I am also hoping some Clan (or server provider) in North America can do the same (=CDU=, that means a server with no modified content).
But it demands some work from the clans involved, since you have to advertise about this and tell people about what maps or themes which are up for that night, every week on desert-conflict.org and different BF2 community sites, like totalbf2 etc. But it will be worth the effort, I hope...

                    I love that idea Harry.

I'm a Lost Village junkie. I understand what CDU is trying to do with their server by placing the Coalition flag on the Opposition side at Factory but for me, it removes the challenge of the map. I love a good challenge and that's why I have never been a fan of mirror balancing. In the old days, people had to work together as Coalition to get a foothold on the Opposition side, you had to have good pilots in the helos that knew how to fly the flanks and use the mountains as cover...just skirting the out of bounds combat area. when the mod first came out, I recall seeing alot of the old faces from the DC days and we all knew what to do when it came to LV and that brought back the great memories of playing DC.

As for jump height, I think it's perfect now. I think it's right where it needs to be in order to get the DC feel while gaining a comfortable compromise with the BF2 game engine physics.

That's exactly what we were trying to do. Glad you like it. :)

=CDU= has been running the updated version for a few hours now. All the previous mods were easily converted and still remain on the new version.

                        Enjoy all!

Sweet, i was playing you guys NAW server last night, i'll check out the DC tonight.

Fair enough, you "pump" out updates fairly quickly but make sure the quality isn't affected.

I downloaded and installed the 0.16 client yesterday and got set to go out to war with it.. This was sunday evening/night at about 21:40 (central european time). I usally use game-monitor.com to find my server to play on. Unfortunatly there were no servers close by (northern europe) with any players online.. So I launched Project Reality instead and slaughtered germans.. I really wanted to play DCON, but I hate running around aimlessly on a server for 64 players with only a handful online.
I hope next time I get some game time that there is a close to fully occupied DCON server I can join!

Played for a bit last night not bad at all i might say. Thanks kiff, that was teh problem. The only thing i didn't like was that the missiles still make teh lock on noise on the attacking pilot cockpit. I understand on the enemy pilot station for the noise, but on the attack jet, i would just make it like the lock on display but not the noise that says lock on since the missile will not follow. The ground Armor warfare is awesome. And the foot soldier maps are also great, love the silence M4 and the silence Iraqi sniper rifle that you have to find, it is deadly, smily face.
