    Desert Conflict Mod Update

There is a new media update posted today over at the Desert Conflict mod website showing off some more maps. Have a look:
As I stated in the other news posting, once I got confirmation of the other maps that will make the release, I'd get you some sneak peaks. Things are progressing nicely. As Door stated in another post, RC5 hit the testers' hands. Nothing's melted, so we'll be out very soon. I'm in the process of getting together a change log for v.1 to v.15. I'll get it posted as soon as I can. That way, everyone knows what changes to look for, and can make suggestions for tweaks accordingly.

The first map I want to show you is called Desert Sabre. It's a creation by Kiff along with Desert Conflict map that I showed you last time. The maps have a similar look to them, but a very different feel. Desert Conflict map has a wide range of vehicles at your disposal, while Sabre is more focused on ground combat with a few attack choppers. There will also be a version that is strictly armor, and Domination and Capture the Flag game modes are available as well.

The second map is called Nuclear Power Plant. This map has a lot of cover and buildings for some intense firefights. It is an intense, cramped urban/infantry map, but there is also some open areas for armor fighting. Conquest and Domination game modes are available, with CTF coming in a later release. It's a map made by =tGA=Harry. He's also the man behind the map Close Quarters that I featured last time around.

I love this mod.. too.. But my oh my, why are all the three big ones releasing at the same time? Is it pressure now to protect and not loose players from ones mod to the competition?
As soon as POE2 announced a new release PR quickly followed and managed to squeeze out an earlier release date.. and soon after comes DCON!
I thought I'd get some R&R from gaming this summer..

Well for one thing, its summer time, so that allows more free time for them to use on working on projects. Secondly PR and POE2 announced they would be releasing, DC has only given us a media update and got RC5 out up to testers, with hopes of getting it released soon, that doesn't mean it will be out by tomorrow.

I don't believe they are racing each other to get it out, they are problably just trying to get it all they want done as quickly as they can so that they can kick back and enjoy their summer before working on any more patches/addons/etc etc.

I wish that were the case raiden.. The devs arent taking a break. They will be working on the next batch of goodies after release. Basrah's edge someone asks? You will see it comming.. not this comming release or the next.. perhaps for .2 or .3. Gonna take some time to model all the statics required.

Well, this looks great. I think its just coincidence that things are happening at the same time.

Thanks for the hard work, I am still here for DC style play. That means you dcon guys. No one else is giving it. POE2 is awesome, but the theatre doesnt interest me as much as desert fighting. :)

                Re: Desert Conflict Mod Update

PR release has been a long time in the making... was suppose to be released weeks ago but had some last minute changes needed.

PR userbase is quite different from DCON and POE I dont think the same type of players enjoy these mods, not to say that players dont play both but i dont think they are 'competing'.

pretty much. we're just doing what we can as soon as we can. I really doubt mods "race" to have the same release times. I don't think anyone really benefits from that

Nice work Kiff and Doorstop, I am excited about the new maps.

You guys should have mentioned something in the news release about your anti-camp/death-zone option. Some people are aware of this ability, but I think it would be good to get the word out.

Maybe for your next news item? Maybe also start throwing some teaser vids on youtube of new vehicles and maps?

Oh, and if it's all the same to you, please release tomorrow or the next day!!! :P

                      Re: Desert Conflict Mod Update

Both of these maps look great. Desert Sabre reminds me of Dustbowl for DC Final. It should yield some great armor battles mixed with attack helos.

As for Nuclear Power Plant, I like the intricate layout of the buildings and should also make for some great infantry and light vehicle combat.

I'll be downloading as soon as it's released.

Yeah, as well as the other people working hard on it. There are more than two of them I believe.

Agreed, the bubble is important if it stops the tanks in the hangars.

                            Agreed about the release also.
