Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

88er looks much better and realistic ingame than on your previously shown renders. Love the picture with the 88 firing and the kübelwagen in the front.

will the 88 be used as aaa or is it useless against planes because of the low altitude they are flying?

just look at the shadows inside that unfinished hanger.
those shadows are not painted, they came from the lightmap

This map looks simply amazing imo *_*

88's can take down planes in FH(bf42) if your good enough, Can switch between diff ammunition types also.

You have to wonder if the same folks that are screaming to release this mod even if it's not finished would be the same folks screaming that the mod was incomplete if it were released in this stage.

Exactly, the more the public rushes and pushes these developers to release a mod as fast as possible they are only entertained for a few days to a week. With a mod like FH2 taking its time to get details and everything working right, we can probably expect the entertainment level to last months compared to some of these mods releasing them too soon where we get a few weeks of entertainment. Stop bitching that its not out yet, everytime they release media it only shows the more they are advancing to a release.

Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

I personally think there is a very real correlation between regular, short timeframe releases and mod popularity. Desert Combat and Counter-Strike being the two most obvious examples. Point of Existence when it was on the BFV engine being a less obvious example.

Having said that, the mod's management have decided the way they like their release cycle to run, and we must respect that, because it is their hard work, and they have every right to decide how it gets put into the public sphere.

Anyway, looking good guys, map looks great. :)

yep, to keep users and more importantly, devs interested + also attracting more devs to your team, its a very important to have regular releases of your mod and it also builds on your fan base.

If I was ever going to lead a mod team I know its the first thing I would do is plan for regular releases and aim for something very minimal but was very playable for the first release, like infantry only, then build up on that for every other release :)

But the FH2 team already have a established team, a established fan base and all they need from BF1942 so they dont have to worrie much about that :)

really nice update guys, you El Al looks really nice, and much more realistic than the Bf42 one :p

The other benefit is bugs and gameplay tweaks can be adressed sooner.

well once the mod actually gets released (im losing hope) they are pretty quick about releasing fixes and theater updates, though it will be probably another 6 months to a year after the first release till the next theater is (pacific?) if they did the pacific you could do the European one that much faster. sigh, i just hope it comes out before september....

Nope, at this point I'd take an "incomplete" mod over an unreleased one. Everything looks beautiful, but the FH2 guys need to take a couple pointers from the POE2 team and the other mod teams that have actually released . . . put out the initial content! Then take time while we're playing that to perfect from there and release periodic updates. I'm sure the mod would be just fine without every single extra vehicle that's being added.

If it's not out by year end, I won't bother playing it . . . the engine will be pretty much outdated by next year and BF2 will be 2.5 years old. :shakehead: I can see it taking that long to release a brand new game, but for a mod, that's entirely too long. At this point they should consider using the optimization 2142 has since they've already taken this long.
