  • Point of Existence 2 Mod Update #104

    There is a new update posted today over at the Point of Existence 2 mod website. Here's what they had to say:
    Firstly we would like everyone to send their best wishes and congratulations to GreasyMullet and his family. On Friday, Mrs. Mullet gave birth to a healthy baby girl, their first. We would like to wish them all the best for the future..

    Last week we mentioned that we had hit an important milestone in our development process. We have begun testing Release Candidates and feel that we should have a new release in the coming weeks. A big thanks to our coding department, D_FAST and Seigman. They have really been putting in the overtime to finish up all the details involved in a mod of this size.

    With that said, we thought it might be fun to showoff our current changelog. We are still actively testing our builds, its possible some items in this list may change.

    Point of Existence RC Changelog

    A lot of work in this release involved updating and refining existing equipment and maps. One of those maps was Acorn, the 2nd place winner in our fan mapping contest. Ga-Knomboe Boy has been updating the map for Fennick, who was involved in an accident recently.

    DrunkenPirate has posted a new pic of the week by Prillan_91, looks like the true definition of camping

                    really awesome update, congrats to mullet and new map looks good, thou the lighting looks to need a little work but would need to run about the map to be sure me thinks.

                    I had a flick though your change log and looks really good! cant wait for the new version, will give me a excuse to download it again

                    afew points in the change log I would like to ask a question or 2 about

                    - Added kill meshes to several existing and new POE2 statics to
                    prevent players from being able to exploit into buildings and being
                    immune to enemy fire. If a player does manage to glitch into a
                    building they will be killed instantly.
                    this one sounds very interesting, dose this mean if a player manages to glitch into a building, the python code somehow knows and will kill them if they dont get out in a set amount of time? If so maybe we could use it I aint 100% sure thou, we just try and block up all the ways of getting into the buildings
                    Thou would be nice if you could explain more on how its done

                    - added mortars
                    Nice! I take it these are static mortars like static MGs on sandbags that players can hop into?

                    - Changed messaging system to each individual player instead of
                    everyone on server.
                    you guys have that controlled by python code or is there abit of bf2 code that lets you do that?

                    again, awesome update and cant wait for the new version!

                      I would imagine it's like how going near a flaming car starts killing you. Or how you die instantly when hitting the bottom of a smokestack in Dalian. Stuff in the tweak file, not Python. I have no idea why the hell EA/Dice didn't do this in a patch when they realized people were glitching into buildings!

                      Mmmm...did you guys find some magical Python code that allows you to do that, or did you just use the award messages?

                          hehe, you should know by now I dont use IRC, apart from when im desperate

                          we have a way of doing the kill messages with python we think, but needs alot of rework with our code. I think ill send someone like egor to have a chat with you as hes a coder, and he uses IRC

                              ye, the only problem with that thou is you need to make another face, inside the object on the col mesh, with that material set to it so it kills the player, adding afew more faces to the model and then you need to cover every possible area, which for a building can be kinda hard.

                              Most likely a supply object or a python
