Re: BF2 Stats Problem
Just what I said, Valve sucks. Steam sucks. Ever since they introduced steam it sucked. That's my opinion. Why are you getting offended by my opinion? Chill!

I don't think comparing this game to the military is fair, but we wil if you want. Is it possible for soldiers in the Vietnam War to receive medals for heroic acts of bravery? Yes! Did we win that war? No!Leave a comment:

Re: BF2 Stats Problem
So what if you come in with like 50 or so tickets left, enemy has only one flag and are pinned down, and your team is basically spawn raping the losing side which helps you get a quick 40-50 points. You didn't help put your team in the superior position, so why should you benefit?

Awarding stats to winning teams would only be fair if 2 things were implemented first.
1. A player would not be allowed to switch teams during a match.
2. A player would not be able to join a match already in progress. Joining after a team is already kicking the other teams behind isn't fair.
This is what would kill the idea. No one wants to wait for a match to begin.
you earn what you have if your on that winning team..so if you came in at or towards the end you wouldn't get much now would you.
Its a team effort just like it is for any real army fighting any fight. You either win or you lose. Simple. While this is a good idea to motivate people to work as a team, I don't think it will work. The biggest problem is just because a team loses, doesn't mean players on that team didn't have the intention and more importantly the effort to win.
I have been on many teams where no matter what my friends and I do, our team is either filled with people who don't know how/want to play the game. Does that mean we shouldn't earn points and such for what we did? This would lead to teams being stacked even more.
I have always said that the points system should reward people on what they do that makes a difference. Capturing a flag helps your team, killing an enemy helps your team. But I don't think a "all or nothing" attitude will work. If we were professional gamers, my attitude might be different, but we play mainly for fun!
Don't we? :shock:Leave a comment:

I think jaws has a point in that stats should report to the winning team only.. even if your the highest scoring person on the server at the time the round ends..unless your on the winning team you don't get a gold medal and you don't get a single point. Award the winning team means you are awarding just that... a TEAM that won!Leave a comment:

Re: BF2 Stats Problem
some say stats are bad others like them ect...
wouldn't it be good if EA released a patch that gives a STAT bonus to all the players on the winning team,(i.e must be on the winning team for say 10 mins)
then the players that think stats are stopping players from going for the win, would be gone due to the fact there's a bonus for the winning team.
just a thought but maybe it would stop all the flaming from wanting or not wanting STATS in the game.Leave a comment:

Re: BF2 Stats Problem
And what do you get personally out of winning a video game? Would it be a sense of accomplishment? What does a person get when they earn a badge or medal in a video game? A sense of accomplishment? I think you and the people who like stats are one in the same.
BF 2 has improved in many ways for those who want to work as a team (squads and built in VOIP). In BF: Vietnam, it was very difficult to work as a team, even with the addition of the buddy list. My friends and I play the game to work together and win for the team.
Do the stats need work and tweaking? I would say so, but they do have value to individuals as well as the community. Would I play this game if there wasn't stats? Yes sir. But I do admit, they can have a "healthy" place in a video game.Leave a comment:

Welcome to adulthood son. Yes, opinions matter. Opinions make the world what it is. It will dictate certain things for your future as well. Will your boss have the opinion that you are a good worker ( I hope so). Will the Supreme Court share your "opinion" that video games don't cause societal violence?
Opinions are everywhere....but those that matter are born from critical thinking.
If stats are that important to you....then why play to win at all?
Who here will raise their little hand and proclaim that they play for "stats"?
I, along with many others (mainly in the competition community) play to win. Just as in life...I play to win.Leave a comment:
