This community turned its back o0n many great things already. USI, OPK, POE2, EOD, etc. There are some fans for each, but few and far between. Come to think of it, what ever you do, dont join the black studios, it is a kiss of death so far.

Its the devs fault that we have free content, and its thier fault for not giving up on this crappy engine and support group, and for not telling 9 of 10 people on these forums not to blow there left nut on a daily basis.
I find your comment insulting, and i'm curious as to why its still up I guess nobody Admins this forum.

But as a follow up: I'm not the only one that feels this way... how about going over to the CAL forums one of the more well known Comp Community and you will see the same thing over and over again within the last 2 months about needing to fix only a few things and then release a patch.

I may be a player but without us the mod, the game is worthless..as the same for a business... without your customers its a waste of time.

I'm hoping they do return.. I guess we shall see when and IF the patch is released.

Its a vicious circle the community continues to follow.. The cycle has to be broken in some way.
"I" didn't want it released, "I" didn't ask for it to be released, I'm guessing your talking about a majority whom prob don't play this MOD anymore. The point is, the Original DC was patched several times and was a huge success and that came from good support. You either support it or you don't and that support comes from both ends.

But again, I'm not speaking for myself cause at this point its irrelevant what I think, you only need to read between the lines to view whats really going on.

Last time I checked, every single server running DCON was paid for, with money, by people willing to do so. If it wasn't for d i c k weeds like sava who foot the bill to run mods on his server, there wouldn't be any mods. And there wouldn't be any free content for you to enjoy in a multiplayer arena because it takes money to run a multiplayer server.

I, like sava, would LOVE to see this mod flourish. There has been a real disconnect over what needed to be fixed and what would have been nice to fix. The only thing that broke the game upon release was the lag issue. Other than that, there was nothing else that broke the game. Sure people cried about the damn squad system...but that didn't render the game unplayable.

the lag issue was the main 1 to fix,its obvious that it was a map related issue and those kinda map lag issues are always a massive pain to resolve.
there was some slight weapon imbalances but besides that DCON has few very noticeable bugs.
its best for mods to fix as many bugs as possible for 1 patch, mainly cuz you need to get alot of peeps together for testing and final testing usually runs for a few weeks to make sure the bugs are gone...then you have to do that all over again to fix a few small bugs, isnt worth the effort, may aswell do it first time.
        .
the more complicated computer games get,the longer it takes to create and manage a mod.

Yeah, it's a good thing that one of the most popular mods, Project Reality, isn't part of BSS or else.. oh wait, they ARE part of BSS.. guess that ruins your theory.

Umm.. don't get confused. Dcon isn't DC. They just rode the coat tails by recreating some of DC's maps in BF2.

and you are basing that on what information? the fact is that alot of the strongest mods, including the strongest BF2 mod at the moment (PR) is in BSS, and most of the other mods in BSS are also comming out with new releaces soon, and the trend is with every new release, every mod gains new fans and brings back the old fans who may be playing vBF2, or another game.

Thats right Rhino.....BSS rules. Basically we keep modding alive for majority of the teams that can't survive by themselves

Its really that simple...what is needed to be fixed...isn't....whats the point of releasing a patch that doesn't fix anything?

                    No one said they were....

I see no one riding on anyones coat tails....the devs were big fans of DC, and wanted to create a similar experience on the BF2 engine, to create a gameplay style that everyone loved and was extremely lacking in BF2....

DO you really have such a problem with that?

I think you will enjoy the next update. :)

Some guys have been trying to solve the lag issue, parallell to this, some other guys have been working on brand new stuff. All this have been finished at about the same time. So the patch have been turned into a large update instead with at least 4+ new, original maps, some new vehicles and skins.

Look for some new content update previews in the near future, on our DCon page and here at TBF2.

I do think the quote is taken a little out of context, but I wanted to respond.
From someone working inside the BSS, I was a little nervous when I first heard that mods like PR, OPK, and USI (few examples) were going to be sharing content. I thought, "how lame! I don't want to see the same Plane in 3 mods ..." But when I got back on the USI team (took 6 months for school awhile back) I was kind of dumb founded. There were a lot of good ideas that weren't staying ideas. A lot of barricades that we couldn't get EA or Dice to help us with that we had solved and teams were moving on to new ones. Sharing content didn't mean models only, it meant combining teams. Getting things rigged quicker, working out new HUD displays, working on getting around glitches A-Z26

That's cool and all but what I found really cool (and I can't really say what it is) how these new ideas were being uniquely used in every mod. It wasn't a carbon copy, it was an ability you had and the options to use it to support your team's mod.

It's also nice to have a community of people that you thought you might get from EA or Dice. We did this on our budget (time and well more free time) We made bugs vanish, new ability's come to life, and try to link mods and spotlight them ourself. (this paragraph goes out to sites like this and mods like Desert Combat along with BSS) The community became it's own support but our hands don't reach as far as EA's could have with those who are outside this community.

The game is two years old but the dedication from mods teams makes your 40 dollar game a bargain. Single player support from mods is nice to. If you can't find a server the AI in single player is fun to play with the mod for a bit. It's no Multiplayer experience but it's there and not having it... well sucks.

                        :salute: keep modding...

I really look forward to DCON news releases, if only for the entertaining flame wars. It only takes a few replies for the ingrates to start bashing the mod. This has remained consistent from the early days of the mod.

Honestly, nice work guys...looking forward to the new release.

Honestly guys it's as simple as this. If all the major issues had been located, fixed and tested, then you'd already be playing a patched version of DCon. Some of you are making out like we're holding back the patch for the sake of extra content. That is simply not the case.

Yes there probably will be extra content in the patch but what would you rather have us do? Give you some new tweaks, maps, skins etc. and get the lag fixed or have half the development team sat twiddling their thumbs while the others try to get just the lag issue all patched up? Either option takes the same amount of time.

Like Harry said, you'll enjoy the next update. And sava700 it is a case of when rather than if. That when should be soon. Like the community was before the first release, you'll just have to be patient.
