Highway Tampa Coming For Battlefield 2/2142

The guys over at FiringSquad have posted up some new news that involves the recently released beta map Highway Tampa. Turns out EA/Dice will be creating this map in both a Battlefield 2 version as well as a Battlefield 2142 version. Also mentioned is a new game mode in the 2142 version of the map called Double Assault Lines. Take a look:

Highway Tampa: The war in current and future times wages on. The most direct path for supplies and re-enforcements for both sides across the expanse of the Arabian Peninsula has been dubbed Highway Tampa. In order to ensure safe passage of critical new technological equipment, both coalitions wage fierce battles to take control over the land. The new Battlefield 2142 map features Titan mode and introduces the new Double Assault Lines game mode. For Battlefield 2 the map features the Conquest game mode. Highway Tampa is the most vehicle intensive map released to date, taking the famous Battlefield sandbox gameplay to the extreme!

The BF2 version of Highway Tampa is set to be released in June while the 2142 version will be seen in the upcoming months. Stay tuned for their eventual release!

yay. for 2142 also!? :O sounds good. i found tampa in bf2 exciting. i think.... i know what double assault lines means... both teams has a main base which cannot be taken before the other teams has all the flags. this may seem familiar with the normal. but dident i say it? BOTH TEAMS. sounds fun enough.

though im pretty sure i wont play 2142 much more. but whatever. fun to see that EA/Dice are trying to keep the community happy. :)

I agree, they are trying, maybe not hard enough..... but hey, it's friday and I feel nice today. I love Highway Tampa and am sure it will be great for 2142.

now lets start hearing some more stuff about BF3!!!!

got a point there. i mean... co-op?.... weeeee..... yippie...... woohoo...... it sucked. it wasent even real co-op. it wasent a real objective. they should launch a new gamemode for bf2. and i dont mean like assault lines. because it is just as fun as conquest. i mean something new.

Nice to see they are releasing a real desert map, in the style of the US Intervention mod. Thank God USI has a lot of these types of maps already.

ok map i guess but i would like another version focused a bit more on infantry battles, not just all on vehicles

just hope they added in another jet and the attack chopper.... the damn size of this map alone warrants the need for both a bomber and a attack heli!

Yeah well, I'm a USI *****. Besides, it's the truth. EA finally released an official desert map with nice tank/vehicle combat. USI's had these types of maps and will have even better maps in the new release, coming very soon!

I think it's balanced just right. If you start introducing attack choppers and bombers, the ground units are going slaughtered. More AA vehicles would have to be added as a result.
