1. Why have we not seen community maps entered into the ranked pool? In a couple more days, it will have been two years since the release of the BF2 title.

I think the bad taste in my mouth at least is because of what happened with BF1942. Dice patched relatively well, gave us new maps and even a new army to play with, a nice mod development toolkit, and they didn't try to squash the mods (Desert Combat even extended the lifespan of the game). With Battlefield Vietnam, they did the WW2 mod. And no, none of these maps had giant Intel billboards!

Then BF2 was released and fees for ranked servers meant that they would be rolling in cash for quite a few years. But support took a sharp dive. Dice constantly lied to the modding community, promising stuff that was never delivered. BF2 patches were shoddy - the first one even had to be completely recalled. I won't deny the fact that they did give us 2 free maps, but there are still extremely obvious bugs in BF2, such as the server info not showing on the login screen!

In BF2142, they found another way to make more money - in-game ads. And the modding community was almost completely crushed, with no BF2142 editor in sight.

They're making arseloads of money now, why aren't we getting any more free stuff? Maybe we don't deserve it, but I remember back when Dice used to be cool and friendly. I guess we were just spoiled by BF1942.

I don't understand why the support for mods and general attempts at creating a community that would respect DICE and EA has just... disapeared.
In 1942, we had Aberdeen, Battle of Britain, Invasion of the Philippines, Caen, and other maps released for free, plus a whole new army, weapons, vehicles and junk added for free. In Vietnam, we had several more maps, a crapload of new vehicles, and the WW2 mod, which added even more maps and vehicles!

Now comes BF2. Ships with the same number of maps as 1942, and mod support that was promised is forgotten. Did we get new maps? Heck yes we did... Three. Wake, Jalalabad and now this... (Which has so much in-game advertising it's disgusting!) We got enough free content from DICE in 1942 to equal the amount we recieved in both booster packs. Doesn't that say something?

I was happy with the support BF2 got during the time DICE supported it...

I'm PO'd that DICE released such a blatent notice of how much they have really changed in their opinion on how much they feel they should care about the community.

DICE isn't calling the shots, EA is.I'm sure DICE would love to give us free content on a regular basis, but EA corporate holds the reins and as such seems to think that valueless costs (Map Development, Additional Content)
aren't a suitable use of resources.

I'm sure Colin or anyone else at DICE that is farther up the food chain could tell you (Off the record of course) that they have been instructed to focus on the next revenue generating project, not projects that eat up man hours to support a product that EA has already realized about as much revenue from as they can expect.

Dreaming, a gigantic map pack with maps for everything; BF2 and all its expansions and booster and BF2142...I want to fly the friggen A10 over the open desert and mow down some GPs and don't give me this EA won't crap because its a booster vehicle, the booster are all but dead, there was only on good map for the A10, Op Roadrage (Midnight Sun, great map, horrible for flying)! I wanna re enact Jarheads and mow down my on Hummers!

To correct you: In Jarhead, 2 A10s first flew pass the soldiers and then turned around and fired about 50-100 rounds within about 4.43 seconds. Mostly missing everyone and only hitting one truck that did blow up, but they saved the guys inside it.
No real trucks in BF2, so re enacting the sense wouldn't work.
I do aguee though, that putting the A10s on this map would be a good thing.

Well, i didnt want to read though everyones post though i did a few pages.

I have downloaded it and iam going to try it out, though a few opinions on this along the lines of this new content.

I rather enjoy the free content, though why just one or perhaps it is going to be more than one as the file says map pack.

Something else, why not come to the community and hold some type of competition and bring in maps the community made and allow the community vote on them is what i don't understand. I think it would go along way in doing so and i think the community would be more acceptable and it wouldn't take the time need in which would be to make their own map.

Nonetheless iam grateful they have given us a free map though i hope it is more than one, i never understood this giving us one map.
