TGL….Money for nothing , and games for free… So what is Total Gaming League and why should you care? You’ve been loyal to the core leagues since you started gaming, and feel no urge to change. In the beginning of online time, there was OGL, the one and only Online Gaming League. In its footsteps came the likes of the Proving Grounds and National Gaming League, whom went the way of the dinosaurs.
Along came TeamWarfare League, offering support for more games than any other site; and Cyberathlete Amateur League, to revolutionize the way competitive league games were played. The birth of Cyberathlete Professional League, in 1997, lead to the globalization and acceptance of professional gaming. CyberEvolution brought with it the first online league with cash rewards for placement in Call of Duty 2, although it was also the first league to have an entry fee. In Europe, Clan Base has become the dominant league. The recent addition of the Ciraco Electronic Gaming League (CEGL) is the latest edition to new and successful leagues available to the public. With a few changes here and there, we have grown accustom to the same form of online league play for over a decade. Total Gaming League is here to change all of that.
“We’ve made the easiest interface to date in an online league. Our coders have been working non-stop to make this site the best any gamer has used” This comment, from Kevin Hollabaugh of TGL, gives us a glimpse into what they envision for the future of TGL. I knew little about this league prior to my phone interview with Kevin, and it was an eye opener. Total Gaming League is the brain child of the guys at MyInternetServices.com. Their goal in creating this league was to give something back to the community that has spent so much money on their game servers. When was the last time you heard of anyone wanting to give back what you’ve given them? “TWL and especially CAL offer a very nice competitive league and do a great job of managing, but you can’t win anything in CAL other than respect. At TGL, you get respect and prizes for free.” This statement has never rung more true with the creation of TGL.
